Been cookin on the JJ a lot lately instead of the 22s. Just trying to find its limits. Did beer can chicken for dinner tonight.

Love beer can chicken. And yours looks real good. What did you rub it down with? Is that Panko on the skin?

It's this stuff plus sea salt. Rub down the bird with olive oil inside and out then put this stuff on, inside and out. Throw it on the grill at 400+- for a little over an hour.

Classic Nate. Beer butt bird was one of the first things I ever cooked on my original kettle. Yours looks a lit better than mine did though!

Regards,

John

Nate - nice lookin' chicken. I like how you throw the extras in the pan to cook in the drippings. Did you do anything special with 'em, or just scarf them down on the way back to the kitchen :)

BBC looks excellent! In the second picture down, is that an extension ring the bird is sitting down in?

It's something I threw together last week on my 1 1/2 week vacation we spent down a my folks place. I have alot of brand new 4x4 pieces of SS sheet metal that was to be used on a clean room project I was on and this was left over, as well as SS door kick panels. what you see is made from a couple SS kick panels rivited together. That SS sure is hard to bend, that's for sure. Since I'm cheap and am resisting the urge to buy a kettle pizza, I was experimenting with this to make one of my JJs a dedicated pizza cooker. Makes a nice extension ring too.
