Having the family over. So making some ravioli with homemade marinara and like a typical Sunday family meal in an Italian home that is only the first course. Got the big guy (Wolf) out to roast a ribeye roast on the rotisserie. (Weber needs cleaning again already) had a grease fire in it last night while grilling a piece of steak. No time to do anything so Wolf is called to duty. First time since last year. Found a source for some wonderful homemade ravioli right here in Rockford. Deli Italia https://www.deliitalia.us/contact-north-main-st-location. I cooked a couple of them last night for wife and I to taste and darn near as good as what my mom used to make or what we buy on the NW side of Chicago https://nottoli.com/ These guys have such outstanding food. Some of the best in the city.

I've got a big old Members Mark natural gasser tht I keep primarily for the large rotisserie. I do appreciate the side burner during the Summer though.

Dare I say it? If you had GrillGrates, you wouldn't have grease fires.

* this is me ducking, getting ready for the pain * :)

Nottoli's food is about the best you can find in Chicago. Their pot roast sandwiches are better than anyone else's Italian beef sandwich just to name one thing.

I’m thinking of installing my side burner for deep frying so I don’t stink up the kitchen. Has anybody done this?

I think it would work great for deep frying.

I have an electric deep fryer but I do use the side burner for cooking fish in CI and for wok cooks. It keeps both the oil smell and the splatter outside.

Tony, the price of everything is out of control right now for sure. But, if you want to treat yourself go to Nottoli's. You can also make yourself great pot roast sandwiches in your crock pot.

Fully agree. Just looked at menu. Will be getting some large pot roast sandwiches.
I usually stew pot roast. My homemade onion soup in foil method was no longer working on these newer chick roasts. So I copy a chinese short rib stew. Always tender. But not quite the way I grew up with it.

I don't recall pot roast at Nottoli's. But than I have not lived in the area since 1988. When I am lucky enough to get anything from Nottoli now it's because my sister is bringing my dad to the Dr he sees near by. FWIW my dad declared the ravioli "just as good as Nottoli". He might be 95 but still knows good food.
Got my first ride in a Tesla yesterday as well. MEH

Larry,
I have never been in or really closely looked at a Tesla, although there were many of them in South Florida. (One guy I know there had a wife that wouldn't let him rest until he got her one:oops:! I am blessed that my wife doesn't march to that drummer🙏.)

So, what about it made you say just "MEH?"

This thread is already meandering, so why not a question about the Tesla?!!!

I can't put my finger on it. I hear about how they're so fast you nearly wet your pants and things like that. He tromped it good. Yeah it was fast. but honestly if you could put the same traction and all wheel drive into a 66 GTO I think it might run away and hide from the Tesla. Anyway it was a pretty nice car. $70K worth? Not on my nickel but to each their own. Lots of bugginess in the programming as well. Not my cup of tea. Didn't mean to take it off course. Was simply relating what else happened yesterday. Honestly don't want to take it into a "car discussion"
