Broilmaster G-2000D Restoration

@Jon Tofte I switched out my temp gauge on my P4 today and remembered that I also have this black temp gauge but it only goes up to 500 so I'm not likely to ever use it.

Josh, maybe you can swap that with me for some Broilmaster or Weber part you need. That might convince me to spring for one of the eBay ones and have very close to original for my “double.” I would use your 500 degree one on the smaller oven side.

Jon if you want it it's yours. I'm always happy to help anytime and you don't owe me anything. I'll try to find time soon to get it sent to you.

I didn't realize how similar they looked. I think that should work great for you!

That would be the way to go. I guess I will swallow my pride and buy one on eBay so I can do it right. You having that one to spare makes it within my tolerance level!

Surely there is something I can give to you in return...any wishlist items?

I went ahead and bought one of the eBay ones. I hope I can actually get this monster done someday soon so I can see how it will look!!!!

I did soak the drip can holders in Evaporust. It did a better job than I expected. but I am thinking of coating with POR-15. That will really strengthen these old pieces, but it is a royal pain to work with. When that dries you still have to paint. I will need to be careful that the two pieces will still slide to adapt to different throwaway cans. One of the funny old-fashion things on these grills. The threads will need to be cleaned further and treated with Loctite Anti-Seize.

@Jon Tofte
Great news Jon my new LP orifices showed up today and I installed them and hooked up a propane tank and the grill worked perfectly. If you have the same size orifices as me a 1/2 end wrench will fit them and these will work. If your orifices fit a 3/8 end wrench they are the newer style and easy to find also but not these.

Awesome! They obviously work perfectly. My valve is totally different, where the orifices are part of an elongated "nose piece" for lack of a better word. It has a female end that goes over the valve's male end.

Oh sorry Jon I didn't see this message until now. I'll try to get the temp gauge shipped soon. Hopefully tomorrow.
Sharing your knowledge and experience with me is worth more to me than parts so Thank you.

Picture please
Josh,

Here is a picture of the original NG one:

I ordered this pair to see if they will work, hopefully also replacing the old gas lines as well, but at least the orifice ends. If they do, there is another place that sells just a single like I would need for the "oven" side.
