For my 18 wsm, I separate the packer.Nothing quite like a nice plate of burnt ends.
Flat on the top rack gets sliced. Point on the lower rack for burnt ends.

Checkout your local WinCo, they sell Points, Flats and of course, Packers. I buy Points there and yeah, they're Choice or Select, but with a Point, that's not too much of a concern, since Points are naturally marbledYou never see points in supermarkets here in CA, at least I haven't. But those are for another day

Apologies to all for not mentioning location.I had to look at your location when I saw you got your cuts from Buds Custom Meats. I just had the owner of Buds Custom Meats in picking up invoices and labels. This one is located in Riverside, IA.
I would imagine there are a few Bud's Meats around the good ol' US of A. Bud is a good name!Not to worry. I just found it funny that there are two shops with the same name half way across the country from each other and I was just talking to the owner of one of them.
