Breitling Air Show Huntington Beach last weekend

Here is a little write up on the air show.

The inaugural Breitling Huntington Beach Airshow will be the only beachfront airshow on the West Coast, and the first airshow held in Huntington Beach, California in over twenty years. Thousands are expected to attend to see first-hand the jaw-dropping jet stunts of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the Breitling Jet Team. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds perform an impressive hour-long demonstration featuring sharply choreographed routines that show F-16 Fighting Falcons wingtip to wingtip and give the crowd a glimpse of the exacting skills and capabilities possessed by these accomplished fighter pilots. The flying aces of the Breitling Jet Team will showcase the fast and powerful L-39 Albatross aircrafts with precise and dramatic maneuvers. The team will round out their two-year tour of the United States with a final U.S. performance at the Huntington Beach Airshow.

Other performers include the Red Bull's Kirby Chambliss, California's own Bill Stein, US National Aerobatic Champion Mike Goulain, the Red Bull Air force skydive team, an F-18 Super Hornet demonstration, Douglas C-47 "Skytrain" and Jet Powered Waco Biplane Screamin' Sasquatch.

Beautiful day for a bike ride to Huntington Beach, we got there around noon and the beach was packed as was the ocean flotilla of boats ready to watch the action.

Here is a little video.

One of the best parts was when the announcer said to train your eyes towards Catalina Island for the F-18 Super Hornet, and then about a minute later the F-18 came from behind us at about 150' off the ground and about a 1,000 mph.
It made your hair stand up.

Another little video of The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

What a fun day, enjoy.

Glad to see air shows returning to that part of the coast ! Loads of aviation history around that area.

Wasn't able to see the weekend show. But was able to see their pre-show practice Thursday and Friday from "the" queen, just up the coast :)

Thanks :) Love it when the props start ripping . Really gives me chills. Even more so at the Red Bull races.

There is an annual air show just east of here every Veteran's day weekend. We've taken our godson a couple times and had a blast. This year, his little sister wants to go. Here's hoping!!

Good article about one of the Greatest Aviators this world has ever seen !
Like you, I had the privilege of watching him fly his 'normal' energy management routine as well as his role in starting the Reno Air Race Unlimited Gold Race each year and being the safety pilot in Ole Yeller, Bob's P-51.
First time was at Orange County Airport (now John Wayne) when it had one paved runway and one dirt / sod runway. Frank Tallman, Bob Love and Paul Mantz also were there doing their routines.
