Like you saw Weller at Costco, or their Kirkland brand? If they have Weller, you should buy it. Great elite level bourbon that is also super approachable. It's damn near impossible to find in Florida since only ABC super stores have the exclusive contract for it in the state.

Ya know the "Wheated Bourbon" words struck me and I didn't see the brand name. I may grab a bottle regardless of brand and give it a go. I was somewhat surprised trying that Larceny for the first time (especially after mostly being a Scotch drinker). I was surprised at how sweet the Larceny is compared to my scotches

A couple of other posters and I accidentally hijacked the Stars and Stripes kettle thread because I use it and my Stealth kettle to hold some of my bourbon collection.

Seems it would be more appropriate here. Lol. And, like someone already said, everyday is bourbon day at my house

Wow, that’s quite an impressive collection! My Son has just started to collect, he set up a little nook in his townhouse. I wouldn’t be able to do that, I’d have a collection of empty bottles! That’s why I collect lanterns, you can’t drink them!

Larceny is a very good wheated bourbon and available everywhere. Can't go wrong with that at all. And, yes the wheated bourbons will be sweet. That's why they are coveted by people just getting into the bourbon journey. Bardstown, Penelope, Green River, and Wilderness Trail all make great wheaters too.

Your boy has a great start going. Space can be an issue if you go crazy. Ask me how I know. LOL And, I don't call it a collection, I call it a SELECTION. I drink my bourbon. They aren't for show or to be flipped.

Yep, you can just look up the mash bill.

According to the Googles...
Larceny Small Batch Bourbon uses a wheated mash bill, meaning it replaces the more common rye with wheat in the recipe. The specific proportions are 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. This "wheated" profile is known for producing a smoother, softer flavor compared to bourbons with rye in the mash bill.

Other than the Buffalo Trace brands, the mash bills are disclosed and a lot of times right on the bottle. BT is cagy about their mash bills and their aging but there are good educated guesses on them.

The other day was my very first taste of Larceny and of course my very first taste of a wheated bourbon. Now suddenly I've found another whiskey I like

The other day was my very first taste of Larceny and of course my very first taste of a wheated bourbon. Now suddenly I've found another whiskey I like

Somehow I missed this until now........

I have some higher priced / quality ones at home that I had to stop drinking.......for unreasonable reasons of course mostly because I cannot replace them until an unkown time.....at the moment is a never to replace situation I would say.....without getting political, we basically cannot obtain quality spirits from the USA. Our government said so........

But I do have about a dozen or so high strength full or pretty much full bottles....I could probably actually sell for double their value if it was required. But the chances of that are pretty darn slim. I am enjoying them still but at a much more slower pace....I have 3 unopened bottles I believe.

It is a sad converation at my place.

Man that sucks. Of course here in America suddenly we're seeing a ton of EH Taylor, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Blanton's.... I got two bottles of Eagle Rare and an EH Taylor at my local Walmart for $33 per on the ER and $40ish on the EHT. And, what we're hearing it's because of Canada turning them away. As much as I love getting those bottles easier I don't like getting them at the expense of others not getting to enjoy them. Ugh

If you like the wheaters, your next try should be 1792 small batch. It's not a wheater but very similar flavor profile and it's around $30 and buyable anywhere. You'll love it.

On Edit: in fact the Kirkland Small Batch bourbon is made by Barton 1792. You should pick that up if you can get it. I think it's $20.

My price is taxed to death of course.....a bottle I picked up of Michter's back around Christmas was $90.00
A Makers Mark Cask strength was a new one I got this year and it did cost about $107.00
I am not at home right now but I am sure I paid $150 for a couple bottles........I know my Yellow Spot Irish Whiskey was $150...........
We get taxed to death on alcohol, I bet the yellow spot is under $100 in the USA....it is by far the best Irish I have tried....and best I can get where I live.

Holy crap! That is terrible. There are states in the US with upwards of 20% + tax on liquor.

Here in Florida the Maker's Cask Strength and the Michter's small batches run in the mid $40s. About $45 for each. I got a Michter's Toasted Barrel Strength Limited Release for $100 last weekend at a bottle drop.

I really wish the government didn't take advantage of us.....they put the taxes on a ladder system with an automatic approval annually for a 2 to 2.5% tax increase annually....
So no barganing no nothing, it passed through the gubment and got set for 10 years a couple years back.....beer, vodka, it doesn't matter.
The alcohol is not free market up here, all of it is distributed by the government into the liquor stores and beer stores...
It is insane to be honest.....24 cans of just say Molson Canadian....not my fav but one of the cheaper options.....with tax and deposit is $52.50
24 - 12 ounce cans........is over $50.......and there is nothing we can do except maybe, maybe if every single person stopped buying booze for a wee bit then I bet something would have to change.....but that will not happen.....

A good example is something like this......
A bottle of whiskey may be a cost to the distilling company of $25 per bottle....but that will without a doubt sell at that $25 plus another ( I would have to look for exact numbers yet ) I would guess at least 60% on top of that $25.....its just pure insanity.

I can whine all day but nothing will ever chnage, it constantly gets worse year after year.
