yeah, but i think he's talking to "average Joe and Jane America".I agree with with almost everything in the article except for the part about sauce under the finger nails.
Some BBQ is just too good on its own to need any sauce.
Good BBQ comes from a dive joint or our own backyards IMO. I liked the read and would agree to avoid joints that put up that they know better.
Went to Naperville Il ribfest recently to see what they had to offer. Saw a lot of flags ,banners and trophies that advertised this place was the best, but after sampling the BBQ I wasn't impressed.
Familiar with it. A lifetime ago and one wife ago I lived in Bloomingdale just off Rt20 and Glen Ellyn Rd (which IIRC becomes Roselle Rd) I remember because after my divorce I spent a lot of time with my uncle who lived in Roselle. Every time he made a pitcher of Manhattans on a Sunday he'd call me and invite me for "one?" LOLRibfest

Oh yeah. It's still pretty good. Was living in Chicago since Kennely so you bet LOL Still remember Council Wars, and what for a bit became Mayor Burn's "Honky Fest". Colorful times.Ah, your memory is great.
Iirc the original ribfest was in Chicago.
Royko.
If we ever have a tvwbb fest, it will shut down all the others
Not too far from the "carnival" ribfest. Oh the pain. That will be the plan moving forward. Take a long time before we forget this. Almost as bad as waste of chicago.Tony.... May I suggest that you do your 'due diligence' before attending any bbq contest, competition, and/or ribfest. There are true competitions with true Champions and then there are carnival type operations.
Case in point... Checking an internationally known bbq sanctioning body's website lists a BBQ contest in Yorkville, IL both Friday 9/15, Saturday 9/16, AND SUNDAY 9/17. Saluting with Smoke Festival and Fundraiser 2023. I believe one our own, tvwbb member, BBQ team competed there !
Iirc, 1982. The waste/waist of chicago.Oh yeah. It's still pretty good. Was living in Chicago since Kennely so you bet LOL Still remember Council Wars, and what for a bit became Mayor Burn's "Honky Fest". Colorful times.
