Amazon Black Friday Week

I also agree but those QuliMetal are the next best that I have found. The build quality is top notch on everything I've purchased from them. I'd still take 9930s or Dave's as an easy first choice but after that.

For the heck of it I ordered a couple sets of these, just to see if they were a decent wheel. I know the style is different.

These things are FAR more beefy than I expected. Way better than I was expecting and the grill logo in the insert is a nice little touch. For $6.99, would definitely buy again! Only problem is one set came without the center cap, and the set that did have the center cap was missing the hardware 🤦🏻‍♂️

I decided to start being better about inhaling paint, grinding and other crap while rehabbing grills. I thought this was a pretty good price for a "real" filter. Those covid style masks just don't filter much and they leak horribly. I thought this price was pretty good.

Bruce,
I am glad you are looking into this. It's scary how much paint was on my respirator filters even though I was painting out in the open.

One thing I learned about the "disposable" ones is that they mean what they say. You can't swap in new filter cartridges. So, once they get dirty enough (or break) you have to toss the whole thing. I left a Harbor Freight one in the trash in North Carolina on my volunteer trip there because one of the cartridges got banged up and started spilling out.

I am going to give this one from HF a try that does allow you to swap cartridges and outer filter:

neither black Friday, nor amazon, but its a pretty good deal IMO

Work Sharp Ken Onion for $99.97

adjustable to 15 degree which was a topic in the recent knife thread.

A family member has this model and it works great. I have the work sharp MK2 which will does 20 degree and sort of wish I had gotten this one instead.

On that 3m one Bruce bought, you can swap out the pre-filters. That should be a great mask for him many years to come. I’ve used those for 20+ years.

Yes, the cheap HF one did allow you to do that. But, how long is the activated charcoal cartridge good for? I admit that I do not have any idea, but I am a little dubious that they are good for years if used semi-regularly. The HF one is priced cheap enough that it isn't much more than a set of replacement cartridges and pre-filters for the nicer one. The HF write-up says:

Just wear, work and dispose of after any heavy-duty painting, finishing or remodeling job.

I am sure the 3M one is much better quality, but it is still a "disposable" one.

I posted this before, but it shows you how much paint is floating around even when painting outside in the "fresh" air. I obviously went too long on the right pre-filter but glad for all the paint it intercepted before it got to my lungs. I now have replacement pre-filters and cartridges for the mask I posted above.

For most shop things/painting I use disposable 3M N95 paper masks like cool flow 8511 or 8200.

During pandemic, I used the more comfortable/stylish South Korean made Good Manner KF-94 which tested as good or better than the 3M N95 masks.

For more noxious things…. I use reusable 3M half face respirator (large 7503 for me and medium 7502 for my kids) with disposable pink 3M P100 filter cartridges (60926 or cheaper 2097) especially when we use our 3D printer because the SLA uses noxious liquid resins. The P100 filters are nearly 100% filtration. I put those in plastic bags when not using.
