A Taco Adventure for Me

Although my taco skills are not even or ever will be in the same ballpark as those of Bill Schultz or Tony and Maribel and many others. But I had to try and up my game skills and try to make a taco that didn’t look like it came from Jack in the Box.

So here goes. What stared this adventure was some thinly sliced bottom round steak in the dog food section for a couple of bucks, as you all know I’m a sucker for cheap meat. Yeah I know it’s not the preferred meat but for an experiment it would do.

Made a marinade with OJ, lime zest, lime juice an orange, orange zest, onion and the juice of a lemon.
I rubbed the meat with Chef Merito Carne Asada seasoning and let it sit for a couple of hours.
Into the marinade for about four hours.

Figured the smoky Joe would work fine for the small pieces of meat and a few onions, wrong, forgot about the tortillas.

A little cheese, green onions, tomato, cilantro, lettuce, avocado, sour cream and a side of Tony Rs beans.
Barb and I thought it was pretty good, the meat flavor was exactly what I was looking for and I can see where experimenting with this type of dish could be as much fun as doing different pizzas.

So there you have it and remember it’s not nice to point and laugh.

If that's a failed experiment, you don't have very big problems in your life! Maybe it just needed a jumbo Margarita to be rated a success.

Wow, that's some very tasty looking "dog food" there Rich!;) I wish our store had a section like that! My dogs would never get any though!:p
