When I first joined this site and started cooking on the kettle, my daughter asked for grilled chicken wings and I felt completely overwhelmed with that request. I come to everyone here to ask how to do it, and then went for it. Now vortex grilled chicken wings are one of those go to, love to cook meals. This community is so awesome.
Five thighs and a lot of flappers that I broke down in drumeets and flats went onto the kettle. I froze the other piece of the wing that I don't know what it is called to make ramen noodles broth later this week.
Here is that kettle full of vortex chicken I promised in the title.

Full disclosure I totally ate double the amount of wings then what were on that plate. They were really good. Just another reminder of how great this community is.

Nice cook, Barb and I do the same with our performer and vortex. Another good one is KFC kettle fried chicken with the vortex. a little mustard to hold the coating on and vola nice crispy coating.

Rich are you using a simple FSP to coat or an internet copycat recipe?
Mike, we use a lot of different things, such as ground up corn flakes with various seasonings mixed in. Breadcrumbs with rubs mixed in. Crunchy honey oats cereal with kickin chicken mixed in. Even some commercial coatings that we added too.
Using plain yellow mustard as a binder doesn't add any mustard flavor to the mix.
Almost anything will give you a nice crispy coating. with the vortex.

Great looking Vortex Chicken, its a staple around here. Now I add bacon wrapped jalapeños poppers to the vortex when I'm doing chicken, they come out perfect.
