Haven't been posting much lately, but still drooling over everyone else's great looking food the last few weeks. I took the last couple weeks of the year off from work and thought I would share some recent photos.
First I spent a few days with my parents, who now live in Orlando. My brother came down from Pensacola, so of course fried fish was on the menu. A few tilapia and catfish fillets; soaked in water while skillet got up to temp, removed from water, salted, shaken in cornmeal.
Our version of beignets, not quite Cafe du Monde or Morning Call, but they will tide us over till we visit NOLA again. These are just biscuits (the kind that come in the tube), center hole cut out (and kept), everything is fried, then shaken in confectionate sugar.
The next couple are shots from our Christmas Day meal. We ordered the turducken from Cajun Grocer (second time we've done this).
From top left going clockwise; fresh lump crab claw meat, prepping the crab au gratin, pineapple casserole and crab au gratin in the oven, and cheddar bay biscuits mix.
The turducken.
Plated.
Back in Tampa, had some company over and went on a ceviche kick. This turned out realllly good.
A couple poker nights. Had to keep eating though! From top left, clockwise; The Mamou, picnic on the Jumbo Joe, sliced beef short ribs and pork with rice, drink of choice, grilled octopus, fresh oysters.
Papaya salad, fried plantains and smoked wings, sliced porkchops.
And a few random shots; gumbo (tilapia, shrimp, and sausage), homemade meatballs and sausage cooked on the JJ with fresh noodles, lobster stir fry, more ceviche, and a shot of us after we saw the Kenny G holiday show (I'm on the right, Roosevelt on the left).
Hope everyone else had a great holiday season, and happy new year to you all. It's such a joy to peer into everyone else's kitchen throughout the week, it's only right that we hold up our end of the bargain.
Cheers to a fun filled 2015!
