'95 Genesis 1000 LX Build - Not a Keeper

Before I got my first Weber, a $25 Silver A, I stumbled on a video of a guy doing a beautiful job rolling paint on a firebox. I can't find the video but that rehab inspired me to go pick it up. Ends up the firebox and end caps cleaned up well but the idea of rolling those surfaces if needed kept me from getting a lesser grill. It also led me to this great group of (old) Weber enthusiasts!

That's really cool Ed!!
Glad you're here

A couple small details to wrap up on it, but I think I’m liking the red… a lot

Big thanks to all of you guys for your inspiration and enablationing (I just made that word up), but a big shout to @Jon Tofte for these awesome stickers that add SO much detail to what can be an overlooked part of these grills. And @Steve Hoch for your advice and insight with these older grills. I’ll be swearing off these slat grills for a little while and try and shift focus to the pile of B’s I have out back.

This one was fun. And frustrating. But I’m very happy with how this turned out.

Looks great Cody! Looking forward to seeing more slat grills from you
If a box of slats for an LX shows up on my porch, I’ll start on one that day. Until then, I’m taking a break!

All kidding aside, I thought about this tonight. The next factory Z bars I use, before I paint them I’d drill tiny weep holes right bear the bend, in line with the existing holes
