I guess I didn’t look that close. I didn’t see any holes. Now I’ll have to go look.Just the rust holes you exposed next to it.
The carbon steel bristles are also very firm.

Taking them out isn't what makes me squirmish... putting them back in does! And this style valve doesn't really have a great place to put the wrench on. They were kind of cumbersome coming out, so I am sure it will be a bit of a battle to reassemble.Looking good and extra credit for not being afraid to take those valves out of the rail.
There's been more than one guy on here that's broken a valve taking it off the rail, but I can see where putting it back on might be a pain.Taking them out isn't what makes me squirmish... putting them back in does! Thankfully I haven't had any issues so farThere's been more than one guy on here that's broken a valve taking it off the rail, but I can see where putting it back on might be a pain.
Me neither, I just mask off the valves when I repaint the manifold.Thankfully I haven't had any issues so far
I have some spares too, but non identical to these ones... now you guys have me nervous about putting them back in, lolI have extra manifolds and valves which helps not be too concerned if something happens. If one of you guys break the valve I can easily send one. But it would have to be a x000 unless you can change out the stems and use them for newer. I wouldn't know.
Back in should be the easy part. What could go wrong? I would imagine any damage to be done would be breaking them loose from the manifold.I have some spares too, but non identical to these ones... now you guys have me nervous about putting them back in, lol
I just get nervous about how tight they feel, but needing to go another 1/4 - 1/2 turn to get them lined up.Back in should be the easy part. What could go wrong? I would imagine any damage to be done would be breaking them loose from the manifold.
Just keep in mind that Weber used different valves on these grills, even within the same models. Make sure you match them up. Some have much shorter sweeps on them than others.I have extra manifolds and valves which helps not be too concerned if something happens. If one of you guys break the valve I can easily send one. Definitely Bruce that's what I meant by the stems. There's probably a better name for themJust keep in mind that Weber used different valves on these grills, even within the same models. Make sure you match them up. Some have much shorter sweeps on them than others.
I like the clear coated look myself although I've been going old school on them lately. I think your badge whitened up at least a little bit compared to the one I just finished up.I’m really liking the clear coated look on the badges. Duplicate-Color has a 550 degree clear I decided to try out. Didn’t whiten the aluminum like I’ve seen others say can happen.
