56" Vieluxe Redux

Can someone tell me the correct pronunciation of Vieluxe?

Is it a play on “Deluxe” and so then “Vee-Luhcks”?

Or would that be “Vuh-Luhcks”?

Or is it “vying for the crown” and so then “V-eye-Luhcks”?

I’m going crazy here reading this thread.

  • The name is a combination of French words: "Vie" meaning life and "Luxe" meaning luxury.
  • Therefore, the first part, "Vie," sounds like the English word "vee."
  • The second part, "luxe," is pronounced the same as the word "luxe" in English, like "lucks" or "lux".

With it having/sharing the same 9930 grates as your first generation Summit and the same style control panel. I wonder how many system similarities there are that maybe aren't exactly the same but possibly adaptable. Not that parts are easily obtainable either way. Or possibly 2nd generation Summit also.

That is what I thought. I bet that grill shares some DNA with the Summit lineup.

That is an interesting combination of ideas. The one challenge is how many igniters can one switch handle? This Vieluxe has openings for two button switches. With 6 "regular" burners, a smoker box burner, a rear infrared and (2) side burners, as it is it requires one to fire (4) and one to do (3) igniters.
You can order igniter kits for newer gen webers with any number of individual igniters

You need to order the kit that does NOT have the integrated button though…

Oh this is awesome! This is the kind of content I'm here for. 🤣
Agreed. This type of stuff is so much better than the chat room atmosphere that has found its way to the forefront of the forum lately. I’ve been staying away by choice quite a bit of late in an effort to avoid all of the “noise without content” as I like to call it. There are hundreds of posts / responses that are just clogging up present & future site searches which would’ve been better suited as private messages instead.

The biggest problem to me is the lack of restoration threads as far as interesting content goes.

The rotisserie motor that came with my 44 was a standard metal Weber unit (not sure what else got a metal body) but I have used my OnlyFire motor with it also - so standard mount. You may want a little beefier motor (and confirm your drive size) since you can obviously add more on your spit. The spit does not come with a counterweight, but I bought one off Amazon just in case…

The cover for my IR burner was strangely corroded on both sides… I think previous owner had fired up the burner unknowingly and scorched the cover - yikes

I think you will like the upper shelf that folds out to double the width - I put baking sheets with broccoli florets up there and they browned nicely

IIRC due to the size the Vieluxe used the same rotisserie motor my Wolf uses. I found a brand new one on FleaBay.
Any identifcation info on that one, Larry? I might see if I can be as lucky finding one. I was going to use either a black Weber one or my stainless Onlyfire like @R Chin did.

EDIT: The brochure says the motor was stainless. Ever seen a Weber branded one in stainless?

Looks good, Larry. I think I know the answer already, but do you feel this motor is more powerful than the regular Weber one or this one from OnlyFire - I got mine with their 22" kettle rotisserie kit? It is only 4 watts and rated to 20 pounds. The Gleason Avery one you linked says only 22 amps. I would think it is rated and meant for heavier loads such as the long spit on my 56" Vieluxe or you Wolf.

That’s 0.22 amps - about 27 watts (may also have different gearing though)

You need to confirm rod size - may be larger due to length

This site has a bunch of rotisserie stuff
