40MPH gusts today...eeesh.

For me, the hardest part about wind is the lighting of the chimney.

Do you have some sort of wind break? It will be pretty difficult to maintain anything resembling steady temps without a wind break.

Good luck.

Good luck.

I got cob job wind break I'm using. Seems to be working. Temp is running a bit low, around 220. Kinda hesitant to open a vent, I don't want to run into run away temps. I normally run with all vents closed. I just put the meat in a half hour ago. So the temp might come up yet.

Was thinking of an idea for a windbreak yesterday actually. Tell me if you think this is nuts...lol. Get a decent sized new round garbage can. Cut the bottom out, then cut the can top to bottom. Spread it open and put it around the smoker. Or you could cut two sides and use hinges.
What do you think?

I like it. Don't use plastic though.

I don't think so but you never know...

I use this (the tent, not the lady) when not at home and wind/rain is an issue. It doesn't get hot enough to affect the fabric at all.

I think it was $30 at Walmart.

Ribs are on. Trying to block the bottom vents with large storage containers around the perimeter of the smoker. We'll see.
