22 in. half chicken capacity?

Actually, I'm gonna be grilling some roadside chicken on the kettle and was wondering if four chickens, or eight split would fit, as long as were small fryers. Anybody know for sure?

I know this is grilling, but I was hoping for a quick response, and folks with the big wsm can take note to any responses.

If they don't fit you could always cook them in two rounds...

Having the grill crowded for roadside is kinda a PITA, since you have so much flipping to do.

Well, now the out...I mean inlaws aren't coming over, so three would've been enough, after all, and that would've fit on one kettle. Oh well, leftover roadside chicken sandwiches can't be that bad.

Well, I put four halves on each kettle, and learned to use more lump than you think you'll need if basting a lot. My lump ended up burning down to not as much as I wanted and basting put out some coals. I adjusted though and moved chicken around and it just took longer. I could've used one kettle, but I'd use a LOT of lump. Three chickens max per kettle would be better.

Lessons learned:

Use LOTS of lump.
Marinate longer...at least 2 hours.
Yuengling Lager goes good with Roadside Chicken.
