2025 Texas Monthly Top 50 Barbecue List is Here

…and the new #1 rated joint is Burnt Bean Co. in Seguin TX. Congratulations to pitmasters David Kirkland and Ernest Servantes, they’ve known great success up until this point, but with this achievement the next four years will be crazy good for them until the next ratings come out in 2029. Also, congratulations to the folks at Goldee’s Barbecue for their #1 status these past four years and only dropping to #3 for 2025. I enjoyed eating their barbecue this past year, hope to try Burnt Bean’s barbecue sometime in the future.

I'm surprised to see Franklin fall out of the Top 10. There are some very good joints that are in the honorable mentions this year that were on the list last year. I'm surprised to see Dayne's ranked so highly. I went there before they were in the brick and mortar. It was good but not Top 10 good at the time.

Went to Daynes in his current location with my son a year after going to Goldees, it was VERY good, just a hair under Goldees.
My son has been to a lot of BBQ places, He still ranks Franklins #1, Goldees a very close #2, and Daynes at #3, but all 3 So close it really doesn't matter. I don't know how, or why the list is picked, but I suspect The list people want to promote other places to widen the appeal. I too was surprised Franklins missed top 10...Familiarity breeds contempt? , lol
