2008 Genesis S-320 LP SS Restoration

Hello all, just finished this project and thought I would share some pictures and descriptions of the modifications I did. This grill was made with real High-quality SS, I'm guessing 304B, anyway with the aluminum castings and detail venting on the Side tables this is a solid good-looking unit. I replaced the original castors with some I bought at H.F. I added a Tee extrusion on each side. Fabricated a new bottom pan and lid liner with 24Ga. steel. Upgraded the ignition with a Spirit 210 unit. Added viewing holes on the flavor Izer bars for quick reference that the burners are lit. I installed new burner tubes and cast-iron Grates. The cabinet was repainted (I have a very close color match to the original Weber basic Gray, Its Metalux automotive paint, I will share the paint code if anyone is interested). I enjoyed brining this one back, I'm pretty sure this one is going on my patio for now. Thanks, Dan IMG_20250920_164323726_HDR.jpgIMG_20250910_181412702.jpgIMG_20250920_164114351.jpgIMG_20250905_130251508.jpgIMG_20250920_164359432_HDR.jpg

That is some very cool fabrication and great ideas for others. :coolkettle:

I have a soft spot in my heart for those "sidewiders". I hope you will "tag" your thread so that it gets saved in our "sticky" folder of grill restorations. I think your ideas could be a big help to others trying to save these old grills - the last all-new design with the classic Weber E-W burner configuration. They had a lot going for them if only the lower cabinetry hadn't been so rust-prone. You certainly fixed that and bought a lot more years of good use!(y)

Yep IMO the sidewinders are the only "true" Genesis grills. Back in the 80s when they were introduced they showed true innovation in the grill market and IMO were the only ones that maintained actual innovation until they changed them in 2011
