14.5" WSM Door Gaps

Cajun Bandit makes very nice stuff for the Weber grills and WSM. The pictures don't really do their products justice. It is a thick piece of metal and they generally fit perfect. It puts the stock door to shame.

It would be relatively easy to rivet a small piece of aluminum on each side of the door. I will take delivery of my 14.5" Saturday. I'll take a look at it and then decide if I want to do anything about it.

I took delivery of my 14.5 WSM today. I assembled it and the "gap" in the lower door corners are too small (at least in my case) to worry about. I'm not at all concerned. My door did not quite follow the contour of the barrel leaving significant gaps. I was able to gently squeeze the door to follow the contours of the barrel MUCH better. It is now "fixed"...

If you have gaps that bother you, I would suggest that you see if the smoker chokes the fire off soon after you shut the vents after your next cook. If the fire shuts down, then it is of no concern.

Just a thought...

Keep on smokin',
