14.5 Water Pan Replacement

Has anyone replaced the water pan in their 14.5 with something else? The pan is quite deep, and for big loads of charcoal, wondering if anyone had replaced it with something else. The diameter is 11.5". Thanks.

I bought a 11.5" terracotta pizza serving plate. Perfect fit. They are oven proof and work very well.

Look for an 11.5" clay saucer in the garden department at Lowe's or Home Depot. Then just double wrap in foil. If you can't find that size, get one slightly bigger and set it on the "bottom rack" holders. You can always set your bottom rack on top if you need it. That's what I do with my 18.5".
 
Anyone found a replacement that you can put water in? I also don't like how deep the pan is. It could be shallower and wider to hold more water.
