    Banking coals on Performer

Banking on that side will not harm the table, its the charcoal bin you need to worry about. Ive seen pictures of a hot lump fire melting the charcoal bin. I always bank on the opposite side, but not because of this. I dont want alot of ash falling in the gas starter, its a pain to clean

    My Performer is here

Wow, that is a beauty! I will be ordering the dark table and handle for my 07 blue performer, once they are available and I can confirm they fit. Maybe the front plate too, really like the new tool holders and Performer badge. Congrats!

    Cleaning my Performer table

I spill crap on mine everytime I use it. A few sprays of 409 and a paper towel have always wiped up the mess. Im not sure what you spilled on it to stain it? I wipe mine down when Im done cooking, and the performer is always under my covered patio.

    Weber Family Portraits

I think he is asking Jim Bloomfield, who indeed seems to be mixing and matching parts like a mad scientist. What a setup!

    have you guys tried this?

Yup, do this all the time. Works great, best way to get a good sear. Black soot?

The new RED Weber charcoal grills w/ link to pics

Wow, thanks for finding this! I love the new look of the performer, mainly the front plate. The black table is nice too. Not sure about the new therm though. The new One Touch Platinum is slick. That HAS to be a hinged lid with the handle in that location. I might need one of those, hope...

Just can't do ribs quite as well... (22.5 OTS)

They are not getting cooked long enough. I like to cook ribs higher than 230 dome on a kettle. Try 275-300 indirect, a rack of babybacks should be done in around 3 hours at that temp. Use the bend test to check for doneness. If you grab half the rack and they dont bend over and start to...

Performer Ingition Starter Parts - Total Cost

Looks to be worth every bit of that $100. I prefer the new ones too, but would not pass on an old one that is in good shape. Better jump on it before someone else does. I bet the ignitor works fine, just needs to be cleaned! I bought mine used and the owner thought the ignitor was broken too...

Just purchased an older Performer on craigslist

Since I bought my Performer I have not touched the chimney starter. Love the gas ignition. If I had found that model you did for $35 I wouldnt of passed it up either though, and I probably would not bother trying to add the gas ignition. If your using newspaper for the chimney find something...

    New Grill Stone

I think the stone needs to be raised a few inches off the grate and closer to the lid to get the cheese and toppings done the way I like. Nice looking stone for a nice price though, thanks for sharing.

Kingsford with Hickory Yea or Nay

Around here they sell charcoal infused with mesquite. It is pretty worthless on the grill, but you can smell it on minion smokes. I havent bought that stuff in years. You get more mesquite flavor from mesquite lump grilling or smoking. Im sure its the same with the hickory stuff. Stick with...

Suggestions for small volume, weekday grilling

There is no reason to worry about those temps. I think your problem with burning the food is all technique. Your probably cooking it too long over direct heat. Learn to build a 2-zone fire and cook indirect. And worry more about the internal temp of the food rather than the temp of the...

Newbie question: Briquettes take too long to ash over

Your problem is definately leaving the lid on while starting the coal. I have never read the manual, but I cant understand why they would say to do that. I use the baskets often in my performer and they are ready just as quick as with a chimney, or just a pile in the middle of the grate is...

    A Couple SS Performer Questions

You wont be able to fill it at Lowes or similar places that do exchanges. You need to find a place that actually fills the tank. Around here smaller lumber yards and welding supply stores do it. Check your yellow pages. The charcoal storage bin is NOT meant to dump your charcaol in, but...

    Number of charcoal starts??

I have to admit my time numbers were a best guess. Last night I put a timer to it, I let the propane start as I normally would and checked how long the gas was running. It was 2 minutes 18 seconds. I always watch the coal ignite and dont leave it unattended while the gas is on, mainly because...

    Number of charcoal starts??

I have been surprised by the number of posts I see on here with people complaining about the small tanks or wanting to convert to a 20lb tank. I knew that on my first tank I got way more than the 10-20 numbers I see thrown around here, so I have been counting on this tank. I am at 32 right...

Anyone use this w/ their Performer?

Disposable canisters are cheap, and last at least 30 cooks, usually more. No way Im hooking a big heavy ugly propane tank to my performer.

    SS Performer Help

That hole is for access to the propane tank shutoff valve. Looks like the tank is hanging there. The ss top folds down and covers all that. Looks to be in pretty good shape! How much they asking.
