Just got a used Q-300

Thanks for the cleaning tip Phil. I just read the manual and as you stated, the burner needs a cleaning. I did try to pin clean but it was not very effective. There must be more junk in the berner tube restricting gas/air flow. I will remove tomorrow evening to clean. I don't have any...

    Just got a used Q-300

Email sent Phil. Thanks! The Q300 took a bit more cleanup time then I had expected. The previous owner was not very caring of the grill. It was a mess. Cleaned up pretty nice though. Even worse than that, he had pretty much everything built bassackwards. I had to take half the grill apart...

    Just got a used Q-300

I've been charcoal only for the last 5 or so years with the SMC and platinum kettle. I decided it was time for a gasser. Got a real deal on used 300 on craigslist. It was a toss up between the 300 and the Spirit 310. Thanks to Phil and others who've posted some great info about the 300. Now...

Is there a light for the Q-300 ?

I have a chance to get a Q-300 used and wonder if there is a light that can be purchased for the handle. The 220 and 320 have them but I haven't found one listed for the 300. I've seen a few on eBay but they state not for the 300. The Weber site does not show a light for the 300 but the 320...

    Pull then refrigerate?

Will, I did 16 last year for a festival I was cooking for. The festival was cancelled at the last second due to heavy rain and I pulled all 16 and froze for the following week. The reheat was perfect and as mentioned, add a bit of applejuice or whatever you prefer. This year I'll do a week...

Tar build up on temp guage

Good question Tom and good answer Chris. I'm going to have to take a look at mine tonight. I cleaned it once last year and haven't bothered to check it out.

    Decisions, Decisions

Good for you Chuck. Please report back on how your 1st cook goes. A co-worker of mine has been talking about getting a smoker for over a year now. For two years we have talked about the q I'm able to produce and he has been excited to get started. I've led him to this site more than once, and...

    Decisions, Decisions

Welcome Chuck. Luckily before I invested in any smoker, I came here and found out about the WSM. I spent about a half day reading testimonials on the WSM, and all the great info Chris has put together for this site. It shouldn't take you that long to decide. Hop on board.

New digs for WSM and kettle

Thanks for the feedback. I like the pan under the WSM idea. Larry I'm not so sure I have room for another bill. Your wife could try though. What I need to learn is to keep my ideas to myself. Everyone I share with my wife becomes another bill. The WSM was on the bench this past weekend...

New digs for WSM and kettle

We used a circle kit in the patio. Each kit can make 3 small or one large circle. My wife preferred one large circle in the center. Wouldn't a ranch kettle fit perfectly in the open space to the left of the table? Here is one last photo of the main area with table.

New digs for WSM and kettle

For now, I've decided to use the 8ft wide section on the side of the deck for my grills. There is still plenty of room to get around and it doesn't take up room in the larger 14x20 ft area of the patio.

New digs for WSM and kettle

Other than some landscaping and re-arranging of furniture, the paver patio is now finally done.

Burn quality of leftover Kingsford ?

I have had good success using leftover coals in both the kettle and WSM. Both Weber's are outside with their covers on but not under any cover.

    Help finding Brisket!

quote:
Originally posted by Jerry N.: George, Let me know how your 12 pounder cook goes. I got a flat for my first brisket cook (about 6#) and then I got a 12 pounder full brisket for my second brisket cook. I think the flat was...

    Help finding Brisket!

Tom. If all you can do is find a 4 - 7 lb flat, get it and try it. I was in the same dilemna. Could not find a brisket with both flat and the point. The flat I bought still had somewhat of a fat cap. I was worried that the small part of the flat would get dried out but it didn't. The brisket...

    Meatloaf

Glad the meatloaf went well Brandon. All mine I've done with water in the water pan. They came out great. Interesting idea with the foil pans. If I was running my WSM dry I would try that.
