Grill Wizard sells the best grill scrubber on the market change my mind

It looks like Roy’s grillwizard.com site was active until at least February 2020- that’s the last time the Wayback Machine has a record of it. Like the above posters, I can now only find the “Tool Wizard” on Amazon, which (if Amazon Q&A comments are to be believed, ha ha) allegedly is not paying...

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

That makes sense, especially since it really became an issue after I opened the lid to move the probe. It wouldn’t surprise me- besides the hinge, it’s a stock WSM with no seals or anything else. I definitely have to improve the air vents- currently using the doggie bowl method, which I can’t...

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

Did my second cook with the HeaterMeter on Saturday. After giving up on cooking brisket for 10 years (really), I tried again, this time with temp control of the HM. Everything I learned on TVWBB and the HM itself made this brisket one of the best I've ever had. Got a 10.5lb prime packer...

    Today's Costco Run

Just picked one up today! Getting up in a few hours to get it started.

    Genesis Silver A

My brother in law inherited a Silver A when he moved to his new house. Was just there this weekend and we were looking at refurbing the grill. It does not have casters on the left side, and the grill sits level. Unfortunately, the white sticker with the serial # faded long ago, but best I can...

What mods are worth the $$$

Seems everyone says the same thing. Mine’s an older WSM, so it didn’t come with a grommet. All the comments made doing the notch (vs. installing a grommet) an easy choice.

Paralyzed by options. Wanted to order a kit yesterday.

Nah, ignore those comments. I’m new to the HM “scene” too and when I’m about to drop $50+ on a single component (e.g., a probe), I want to know I’m buying the right thing too. It wasn’t you at all, it’s a good question. Yep, I’d seen that post. The issue for me was even more basic: what does a...

    25% off ThermoWorks Timers

Is this dead already? I don’t usually follow their sales closely enough. Showing $59.99

    Graphing of your Cooks

A graph is also a great way to easily see when a brisket (for example) has stalled in the cook, and when it’s broken through the stall. Possible to do without a graph? Of course. As much fun/as easy as using one? Nope.

Where has Bryan been, is this project abandoned?!

Bryan, glad to hear everyone’s okay. The HeaterMeter project has been a ton of fun the last few weeks and really gotten me back into electronics. Building a working HM gave me the confidence to do an unrelated circuit board repair at home that saved me $600! So yes, many thanks for everything...

Paralyzed by options. Wanted to order a kit yesterday.

For your air probe, I’m not sure about that ceramic one, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. However, I went with this one: Air probe The first air probe you list above (your “just in case” option) isn’t K-type and you can skip it. I got most of my stuff from Bryan and the probes from...

What mods are worth the $$$

Never knew I needed any of these things til I got them. 🙃 I did the probe notch and installed the hinge. Both are huge improvements, especially the hinge! Cooked over the weekend, and I can’t describe how great it is to not have to look for a place to put the lid. Well worth the money. Now I...

    Temp Probe thru Screw Hole?

Just did the notch mod this week on my 11-year old 18" using an angle grinder. Made me a bit nervous, even though the WSM has some years on it. The job went well - did it in steps, checking with probe wires every time until the notch was deep enough (but not too deep). Looking forward to...

    Rolling Cart for WSM

Nice job, you made quick work of it! These aren't easy to come by, but I finally picked one up today. I struck out at multiple stores last week, and 30 mins after calling them this morning (when they had a few in stock), I walked in and bought the last one. TVWBB effect?

    Post your live HeaterMeter Cooks

Nice! Is that a 1” from the fan down to a 1/2” into the smoker? Second, did you solder your airburner together? Is that also 1/2” pipe? About to build something similar- seems yours is working out great!

Should I get the 18.5 or 22.5 Weber OTS

I almost could've written the original post! I also had an old New Braunfels offset that was way past its useful life -- major rust, paint flaking off, and really no longer safe to eat from. I just got rid of the NB offset and picked up a 22.5" OTG yesterday; I don't want or need the 26", plus...

    USDA Prime Ribeyes!

Was at my local Costco today wandering around the meat section looking for some pork shoulder to smoke, when I saw a case of USDA Prime Ribeyes for only $10.99/lb! I've been waiting forever for this, so I picked the best of the bunch (wasn't much left, unfortunately) and headed for the exit...

My charcoal source has dried up (New England)

Yeah, I'm able to find the Kingsford, plus I'm stocked up on that but I really like using the natural charcoal. I went into another Wally World today and the manager told me the Royal Oak was gone for the season and they wouldn't have any at least until January....I guess I can use my...

My charcoal source has dried up (New England)

Dave, thanks - that's really helpful. I've got a RI connection, so I'll ask him to pick some up in Woonsocket the next time he comes down to CT.

My charcoal source has dried up (New England)

Well, the title says it all. I finally found a Wal-Mart in the area with a ton of Royal Oak natural charcoal in stock, and bought a few bags. When I went back to get more, they'd sold out & the area (garden/seasonal) now only had plastic Santas and fake Christmas trees. Same with all the...
