    Thinking about pulling the trigger....

If it's stil available and you go look at it, the model number is on the big sticker inside the hopper lid. If the model number ends in 001 it's a gen 1. If it ends in 201 it's a gen 2. The auger assembly is the only important difference in the two generations and I suspect most gen1 owners...

    Thinking about pulling the trigger....

It doesn't matter what Generation it is. It's a steal and if it's a gen 1 it probably has the new auger assembly in it and that's the big difference between gen 1 and gen 2.

    A little public safety notice

That’s a nice shelf but I like a lip on the edge instead of a flat surface. I added the bottom shell to my Camp Chef, for stability, but put it on upside down because that gave me a lip.

    A little public safety notice

I move mine in and out of the garage for every cook. I have to check those bolts periodically and they do loosen up even with the short trip from the garage. I plan to fabricate a bottom shelf and see if that helps with the situation.

    Labor Day/Birthday Porkalisious

Today was a twofer at our house. We celebrated Labor Day and my birthday with one cook. My tradition for many years has been to BBQ for the family on my birthday. Today I hit 82 and did pulled pork and BB ribs for only 5 this year. The 8 lb. pork butt was injected with the Chris Lily inject...

    Prime rib on the SmokeFire.

Nice looking steaks. I like getting prime cuts at Sam's Club because of the good price. Enjoy!!

    New cook

Thanks. Although I sold my old DLX after getting the Smokefire I remain a big Camp Chef pellet grill fan The shape of their cooking chamber really adds cooking space on the top grate and mine just ran. The pursuit has a ton of cooking space for a portable grill.

    EX4 Not Starting

It's a 24V glow plug. I suspect that the diesel engine talk is another Smokefire internet myth. The ground connection has been a common problem and a lot of Smokefires have the hose clamp hack. Weber redesigned the glow plug harness assembly when they designed the Stealth version.

    EX4 Not Starting

The Smokefire uses a glow plug, as seen in my picture. The hot rods are different.

    EX4 Not Starting

It’s possible that the glow plug ground is making intermittent contact. You can put a small hose clamp on it to fix that. I hope it works.
