chicken drumsticks - the struggle is real

I am NOT a griller. I have a Smokey Joe which I use almost exclusively for steaks and burgers. The rest of my cooking takes place on a wsm 18. I bought some chicken legs, I very rarely cook chicken but I will today. On another thread in grilling forum I read about disastrous flare-ups cooking...

    Bread Is Broken - article

Yes I think that's it, there is a 4 piece set for around $75 which seems like a fair deal. I know nothing about baking but these bread pictures have inspired me and I think this would be a great chili pot as well.

    Bread Is Broken - article

Not to go too far off topic but that bread looks so good that I'm looking at Dutch ovens, is anyone familiar with Lodge brand cast iron cookware? I found a 5-quart at Walmart for about 35 bucks I'm considering buying, thanks

    Lodge Dutch Oven

I saw a thread here about baking bread in a Dutch oven and it looked awesome! I'm interested in buying a Dutch oven, I see this brand at my local Walmart (in fact they had a four piece set that looked pretty good) I'm wondering if anybody is familiar with this brand? Thanks. Edit: For some...

    I need chicken drumstick help!

I always grill them but this time my plan is to smoke them for at least an hour at 225 and then I was planning on finishing them up on high heat to crisp the skin. I was going to put my usual rub on them and then just when they're about done I was going to sauce them. Does this sound like a...

Glad it's working out for you! On hi-heat cooks you could probably do best without any water.

    Charcoal Ashes

I dispose of mine in accordance with local regulations. (I was only kidding when I said I threw it in a neighbor's yard whom I didn't like. ..mostly)

    New "22 rookie mistakes

Hey Chris, I use water but I only use about one quart of hot tap water and I put it in when I noticed the temperature starting to spike (basically I use it to adjust temps) On a short cook I wouldn't put more than a quart or so, good luck, enjoy your new smoker! I use one of those little...

Kingsford burn times are not what they used to be

I had a bag of the old style Kingsford in my basement, the 20 pound bag (They sell 18.6# bags in this area now). It got lost in the move, I found it early this summer it was not the new 'crimped' style briquettes like they sell now, it was the old stuff, likely from the 90s, as I've used nothing...

    My turn for Pizza

Sounds like you have that thing that's going around, I'm still coughing from it two weeks later :-( I worked in a pizza shop when I was in school, I remember a couple of tricks. Loosely sprinkle cornmeal under your pizza, throw some on the counter, the peel and on the stone, that's the secret...

    Weber Chimney Starter

I agree with Len. I take a couple of pages from those junk mail flyers that come every week, crumbled with a paper towel that I've drained bacon on and it works every time. Be sure to use the newspaper-like ones and not the oily plasticky feeling kind of fliers though, that's the only caveat.
