New member with a question for Smoking a ham

PJ, That looks good. I like mine but I'll give this one a try next time. Thanks for posting.

    Going to build this table

I may just do the same thing when I recover from a badly broken finger (really messed it up). I'd been looking for a plan similar to that, something I could fold up and store. Had been using a Workmate table when I really needed something. Thanks for posting.

So what's cooking for Easter dinner?

Ham, oven baked and smoked. We'll have about 20 relatives and about half prefer one or the other. For some reason some don't like smoked meat.

New member with a question for Smoking a ham

P.J. Here's a recipe I've used a couple of times on "ready to eat" hams. http://bbq.about.com/od/hamrecipes/r/bl81128a.htm

    Quick question

Never on my WSM, but several times on my kettle. I think you could wrap anything in bacon and it would be good. I could probably eat possum wrapped in bacon.

    Kingsford Bargain

I got 6 double bags for $5.88, but I had about 90 pounds in inventory. Just bought 2 of the 20lb double bags a little over a week ago. Be careful about taking your wife to HD. If she's like mine, she going to ask too many questions. "Only a foolish man refuses to stock up on charcoal...

    suggestions for a weber 22.5

I use a digiq 2 on my WSM 18.5 and it works well. I don't think it'd have any problems with the 22.5 since I normally close my damper down to about one-half anyway. I have the 10 cfm fan and I think it's recommended for both the 18.5 and 22.5. I don't have any experience with the other ATCs...

    Char-Griller Kamado Kooker

I needed a little extra capacity for grilling and smoking on certain occasions. I thought hard about the Char-Grill kamado. Saw it at Lowe's and had read some good reviews. Price was much better than other kamado and I really wasn't looking for something to replace my OTG and WSM. I went a...

Smoking without water in the pan

If you want the brinkman charcoal pan and have an Academy Sports nearby, you can get one cheaper than from Amazon. Make sure you get the brinkman charcoal pan and not the brinkman water pan. https://www.academy.com/webapp...Ey1SGicul6JCtVRZ%2Fi

    Indirect Grilling

I used both sides with the weber charcoal holders. Place a drip pan with a little water in it (for easy clean up and reuse). Works well for me. Never tried the one side indirect.

    New Grill

The CL recommendation is good. I have a 22.5 otg and need a bit more space for some occasions and am looking for a 22.5 ots. I like the otg a little better than the ots because of the ease of cleaning charcoal, but the ots is cheaper. A 26.5 would be nice, but you can get 2 of the 22.5 otg's...

    BBQ Guru,No Water

I run with and without water and can't tell any difference. The digi works less without the water so that's what I've been doing. Makes clean up easier a bit easier to. I'd suggest just foiling the pan. I keep my top vent completely open. I emailed the guys at bbq guru about this and here's...

    Temp guage question

    Nomex Tape Seal...

I just got my gaskets from bbqgaskets today. I bought the WSM kit for $25. Plan to work on it after my broken finger heals a bit.

    Oiling a Steak

You got that right. About a month ago I bought two choice ribeyes at Kroger. They were slightly over a lb each and I paid around $26 (including sales tax). Got Boston butt for $1.99/lb last week.
