    Biggest one on the 18.5"wsm was around 17lbs. Biggest ever was around 24lbs, did that on the 22.5"wsm just fine. Here's the 17lb'er

    New with 22- temp advice needed

    Mine is usually 40-50° off on the lid. So if mine said 230° I'd be closer to 280°. Never trust the dome thermometer. I was cooking ribs today (w/o the water pan ) and my dome was 90° off. Also, don't chase your temps too much. It will drive you crazy.

    Same here as JRA said, but curious...he said to start the wings "skin side down"? Are your wings skinless on one side JR? Lol!

    The door gaps are "designed that way" - I had to share this

    I have a 18.5"wsm and 22.5"wsm. I've have no problem with the 18.5"wsm door. I had to give it a little bit of binding when I first got it but it's good to go now. The 22.5"wsm on the other hand has a terrible door and I replaced it with the cajun Bandit door.

    Finally got a Thermapen!

    I really like the rotating screen and back light, also its more water resistant then the classic. to me it was worth the extra $16 bucks. If it isn't too much of a hassle I'd exchange it.

    Well my parents gave me money for Christmas and I figured it was time to pull the trigger on a Thermapen! Didn't know that they came out with a new model (mk4), and their prices have dropped as well! Got it yesterday and got to use it today. This thing is super awesome!

    Newbie and temp issues 18.5 in UK, any help appreciated

    Are you going off of the thermometer in the dome? That thing is WAY off! I find that when mine reads 210° its more like 250-260°. Get a digital thermometer like the Maverick et-732. Don't trust the dome, it lies.
