    Rib racks

Don't get the Weber 6605... http://www.homedepot.com/p/Weber-Original-Rib-Rack-6605/204787276 I have one and hate it...when you cut a rack in half, the halves are often too short to sit in the rack properly. I have to use skewers to support the ribs. Also racks are hard on your bark, ripping it...

Mini in Progress, But Lid Won't Fit on Steamer Pot

Well documented that the IMUSA pot is not a perfect fit. The Vasconia 32 quart is the proven winner.

    Ash ring

2nd generation type keys into slots in the leg sockets. 1st generation type is held on by a special metal strap. Each type uses a different ash sweep. (H-drive or hex-drive) With your year you are close to the switch from gen 1 to gen 2.

River Country thermometer to replace stock

On their site they say 1/4" NPT (National Pipe Thread) on the therm and that it requires a 1/2" hole. You won't be able to use the Weber bezel because RC's smallest diameter is 2"....the Weber therm is 1-3/4" diameter.

    Did someone say cast iron?

Very nice addition ! What year is your kettle ? Your ash ring has an angular entry for the pot handle....mine is more vertical. I would call mine a 2nd gen with the H-drive damper....yours looks like there's been another revision....2.1 mebbe.

    Camping trip with Jumbo Joe.

I love these camping threads ! Awesome place ! Sadly my beloved Lower Deschutes is always in extreme fire danger during late summer....no open fires which includes charcoal. My little Kenmore gasser always comes to the rescue, though.

    Grate conditioning after thorough cleaning

The purists like flaxseed oil because it dries and hardens. Not that easy to find. In lieu of that, I would choose a high-heat rated oil. A combo of salt and cooking oil is a good way to clean after seasoning. Dish detergent wipes out any seasoning and you have to start over.
  19. J

how often do you use your WSM?

Once every 2-3 weeks. I use my 22.5" kettle much more often.
  20. J

    22.5 grates not the same

Nope. The lower grate is typically a smaller diameter. For instance, on a 18.5 WSM the upper grate is 17.5" in diameter and has commonality with the cooking grate from a 18.5" kettle. Home Depot is generally the cheapest source. The lower grate is 17" and is a re-purposed charcoal grate from a...
