How'd you get into barbecue? *****

I'm interested to know how everyone got into the hobby, or addiction for some... I used to vacation down in SC with my family when I was younger. My grandfather retired down there and I'd go nearly every summer. My favorite thing to do was to visit any new bbq joint I could find. I can still...

    favorite sauce recipe

Sounds good, I'll have to give it a try. You might get a little heat from the people around here about using liquid smoke. May I make a suggestion? Instead of that fake smoke flavor, replace it with some of your collected drippings from whatever you're cooking. That usually puts a good sauce...

New WSM with a wobbly rack?

My handle is wobbly too. I tried tightening it, but it didn't work. I can live with it though.

    Protecting my patio

I wasn't sure where to post this question, so I chose here. I wanted to order an oil pan drip tray from Amazon to put under my 18.5 WSM on my wooden deck to protect it from drips and ash and such, but the only steel one I could find is 36 X 25. Seems like it would be just a touch too small to...

    Commercial sauces and rubs

I'm sure a lot of you make your own sauces and rubs. I like to do the same when I can. But for the bbqer on the go, what are your favorite store bought rubs and sauces?

    First Brisket

With enough sauce, it still tastes good. As Anthony Bourdain says, "An ounce of sauce covers a multitude of sins." I use this quote often

    BBQ classes in the Northeast

I'm a KCBS member and I can tell you that the classes offered in the East are few and far between. I've been looking for something in the NJ area for quite some time, but no luck. I am attending a CBJ class in PA in a few months, but it's a 2 hour drive from me. So I'm sure it would be insane...

    Getting wood in NJ

I know there are some NJ guys that can help me out. Where do you get your woods? HD and Lowes have been the go to place, but I was wondering if you had a better, perhaps cheaper, source for woods? Maybe mail-order? Thanks!

I can't believe I didn't bother checking the Reynolds website. I've often heard which side you use matters, but I guess you learn something new everyday. Put this one in the myths busted category. Thanks everyone

    Foiling

I searched through the forum for anything on this topic. While I did find some mentions of it, I didn't get a definitive answer. When foiling, whether it be during a cook, tenting, or post cook, is it better to foil shiny side in, or shiny side out? I know the shiny side reflects heat, so I...

    Flavorwood

Has anyone used the Flavorwood smoke cans? Apparently you just throw the can on the hot coals and the condensed wood pellets inside smoke after a minute or two. I'm just curious if they produce the same kind of flavor as normal wood chunks.
