Nah, out of my league. I'd be a judge though!

    Genesis Hood Dissasembly

The bolts are knurled, which is supposed to hold them in place. Did you clean the threads before you started turning the nuts? If not, you probably stripped the knurls. As suggested above, the nuts are hollow. You can pry them off and replace with SS. They are 1/4-20, if memory serves. No need...

    Dinner: The Bacon Hades Burger

We're well over my head when we start anointing food! Looks good. I love spicy food, but not so spicy as to be unenjoyable. Sounds like you're getting awfully close!

Is it ok to add unlit charcoal while cooking?

You can. If you add them directly over the burning coals it might lower your temp. If you're just extending the snake then it's not a problem. If you do need to add and only have the option of putting them on top of the burning coals, I would light them first.

Gonna name a mountain after a truck

The name was adopted by Congress. Want to change it back? Get enough votes. It's as simple as that. "Long standing requests" aren't exactly the basis of a Republic.

Gonna name a mountain after a truck

Let's be clear. The current administration decided to change it and told the Department of the Interior to do so. It's just another case of the administration doing exactly as it wants without consideration of anyone else. Won't vote for what I want? Just issue an executive order or strong-arm a...

    Found my new grill!

Went to Johnsonville's website and found this info: The Big Taste Grill is 20 feet tall, a whopping 65 feet long and 6 feet in diameter. Just to park it you need a space that is 20 feet by 90 feet! The 6,000 pound lid with an 8-foot handle is opened using a hydraulic system, giving access to...

Using the weber with no wood

Many folks are very partial to the smoke you get out of charcoal by itself. Some just don't like the smoked flavor. I had an electric smoker for a very short period of time, and I would always add charcoal to the wood pan because we like the taste. In short, yes, you can use it without wood.

Do you clean inside after every cook

Good lord no. I clean my cooking grates if I think it's going to be a while before my next cook, mostly because there's food on them. You absolutely do not need, nor should you, clean the interior of a smoker. You want that thing nice and seasoned.

    Genesis 1000 Restoration

Buy another grill. When I restored mine I ended up getting parts from two grills. The result was one very nice grill and I didn't have to buy a single new part. Spend another $40, find a grill with a good lid, and maybe you'll end up with a spare set of burners or grates.
