Never had one flip but wind gust blew the cover off of my 18 1/2" WSM a couple of weeks ago. Had storm summer of 2010 that blew table umbrella 2 houses down and couldn't find grandson's pinwheel - figured it was out in the middle of Lake Michigan or somewhere. Spotted it in my 2nd story gutters...

    New Braunfels Bandera restoration

Good work all the way around! I learned a long time ago, when I had a Char-Griller, to season the firebox each time I cooked by rubbing with a little vegetable oil. Over time it builds up a nice little patina and keeps the rust down.

    Two New To Me Sides

Toasted the last 2 biscuits and spread with peanut butter for breakfast this morning. BTW - Think the next time I make them, I'll cut the sugar to 1/2 cup or maybe even use 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey.

    Frozen brikset

I agree with Bob. If I haven't refrigerator defrosted, I will often put small cuts, like chicken pieces, chops, steaks, or ground meat, on the counter to start the defrosting process. I do place in the refrigerator when I feel them start to defrost. I will not do this with a large cut like a...

    Smoking in an Aluminum Pan

I have a lot of respect for the great Mr. Mixon. The man's record speaks for itself! I'm just not a foil guy, either pan or wrap, to cook in. I will use them to collect the drippings. Just my $.02.

    WSM on a wooden deck

Knock on wood ... I've used mine on my wooden deck for years and never had a problem. I have a couple of scorch marks from sparks from when I've dumped coals but consider them to be badges of courage (or stupidity). Several years ago I was 4th house completed in a brand new subdivison. Guy...

    Brisket size

Mike - Cook the whole packer. I often cook on one of my One Touch's when I'm doing a small quantity or a single roast. When I fire up one of the WSM's, I take full advantage of the space that I have and vac pack & freeze any leftovers.

    The All Encompassing Beer Thread

Back in 1982 I was crossing the border from Windsor Ontario to Detroit and legally bringing a case of beer back with me. Before I had a chance to make my customs declaration I was told to pull in for an inspection where my beer was seen in the trunk and was confiscated. I was told I could "buy...
