    Duraflame Charcoal in Florida

There has been several discussions on the new Duraflame Charcoal, and the inability to find any in Florida. It was reported that Albertson's would order it for you if you asked a store manager. That turned out to be false. Last week I was in my local Kash 'N Karry and "lo and behold" there...

    New Kingsford Sucks!

Paul, One of the guys on the FLBBQ Assn circuit gets Duraflame directly from the company gratis... He tells me that all Albertsons in FL, while they are not required to stock it, will order it for you if you ask a Manager. I haven't tried this out yet, but it's worth a try.

    New Kingsford Sucks!

Bill, Thanks for the congrats. Love my new Stumps, but not getting rid of my WSMs anyday soon. The scenario that the Kingsford person spoke of was the Minion Method which I described to her in detail. Told her what happens with the new stuff, now it is difficult to bring under control as...

    Cutting Board Rehab (long)

On the topic of Cutting Boards, I've wanted a decent size cutting board forever. One day on another forum someone posted a site where they made custom sized cutting boards out of any hardwood you could name almost. Well I ordered one - maple, 2' x 3' x 1.5". I'm here to tell you this is one...

    Chuck Roast Cook

As a frequent follower of Stogie's chuck roast recipe, I can tell you it is more than worth the wait. Put a couple on under a pork butt or two. The resulting shredded beef is out of this world.

    Accessories for the Q

Hi Frank, I got the griddle with my Baby Q and I like it very much. It isn't as big as you might first expect, as it doesn't cover the entire cooking surface. It is more that adequate, however. One thing I find very useful for the Q is a small rack that will hold the food up off the surface...

    Baby Q vs. Go-Anywhere

Kevin, I do burgers, chicken pieces, sausage. But steaks are best. You can grill veggies as well. I find cleanup to be fairly easy. I just fire it up high when I'm done cookin' then use a wire brush on the grate. Then take the grate off when it cools and wipe it off. Can easily go in the...

    Baby Q vs. Go-Anywhere

The Baby Q cooks very evenly, because of the solid part of the grate that is over the burners, as you pointed out. Baby Q is made to last forever, too. Only things you might have to replace is the burner and maybe the ignition. Three words: Cast Iron Grates. You oughta see the sear this baby...

    Baby Q vs. Go-Anywhere

I have the Baby Q and really like it. Before you go gaga over the PCI grates, a word of caution. They are NOT PCI like the typical Weber PCI grates, all shiny and smooth. They have a rough finish and not what you might expect. At first I was put off by that, but they cook fine, give one heck...

    Pellets

For those of you who use BBQrs Delight Pellets, I found a close out sale on them recently. It was at a local store, and they don't have a website, but I'm sure they would ship. They had all flavors of the pellets for $1.99 a bag. Buchan Gas 6150 49th St. N. St. Petersburg, FL 33709 (727)...

    Any grills made in USA?

American Made Grills... check out this link: MHP Grills A small propane company near me used to sell all the Weber Gas grills. Today I stopped in to pick up some smoke wood, and there wasn't one Weber grill in the place, (except for the WSM, the Q and the Kettles). The owner said that Webers...

Good book for a new smoker?

I've got Smoke n' Spice, BBQ Bible, and all those other books. They make for nice reading, but like it has been mentioned, how can you learn something from a book if the times and temps are off. Dr. BBQ's book is the best book I've found. With his book and this resources of this forum, you...

    Strange cook... fast though

Last night I had my strangest experience yet with the WSM. I fired it up using the Minion Method, full ring of unlit plus about 15 fully lit. 7 lb Brisket flat on the bottom grate, 2 7 lb butts on the top. Took the longest time to get up to cooking temp, about an 1-1/2 hours, longer than...
