I can close the lid with it in either position.

I use my Polish Pottery teapot, heated up in the microwave. Polish Pottery is oven and microwave safe, but I'm not sure about using it directly on a stove top.

I never understand it... I either get 3 entire sheets, or one ripped half sheet! :D

I picked up the tabletop model last month. I like the portability of it. I then superseded it with a different griddle that fits right on my Genesis. I don't regret the Blackstone, it cooks nice and even. It just doesn't get much use now :)
