I have a GMG and I do like it, but I prefer smoking on my WSM. In the past I have had a Masterbuilt Electric Smoker and Brinkmann Cimarron offset barrel smoker. I think I am done buying smokers now. I don't see any reason to buy anything else. I have made all of the mods that I want to on my WSM...

When you aren't using your WSM, do you store it with the vents open or closed? I know that I should clean out my water pan and empty the ashes, but I am not sure if I should leave the vents open or closed. Thanks.

I used the stainless steel I-bolts and then attached the fire ring to the grate with stainless steel hose clamps. Worked great.

Thanks Jim. I keep reading on hear that zinc plated is bad. Does the heat of the charcoal take care of that?

That is what I am planning on doing, but so far I can't find the square u-bolts in stainless steel and I don't want to use zinc coated ones. Does any know where to find the stainless u-bolts?

I am new to ATC's as well. I am trying to decide between the QMaster Senior and the BBQ Guru DigiQ DX2. Always have to have more gadgets and this to add to my WSM.

Great ideas. I was getting ready to install the garage door handles but I think I will order the handles that you put on. Since they fold down I would still be able to use the original cover.
