Got it! I ordered the Weber 6520 at noon on Tuesday from Amazon.de. It was delivered by UPS at the door Friday evening at 6pm. $214 total.

I did a similar fix as MichaelD did, except I chose a white PVC cap from my ACE Hardware store. I used my Dremel to rotor out the threads inside. I used a hacksaw to cut a slit in the leg, then pounded on the cap with a rubber mallet. No glue necessary and the white cap looks great!

Using a small flathead screwdriver as leverage, I was able to remove all the nuts off the bolts and thus remove the two ends of the top. Now to sandblast the two ends for painting. Thanks everyone.
I have a Genesis 1000 and I noticed that the old center burner tube has flame holes down its entire length on both sides.
The new replacement tube has flame holes on one side only.
Any idea why Weber changed this?
I imagine the center tube doesn't put out as much heat ..

This morning I was planning on removing the end caps of my Genesis redtop to sand and repaint. Every attempt to remove the 7/16" nuts resulted in the whole bolts turning.
Looks like I will have to paper over the red porcelain before restoring and painting the two end caps.
Other solutions?
