Storing hardwood chunks in the freezer

The garage and all exterior walls are stucco covered concrete block. We do have wood roof supports, though, and that's certainly a concern.

Storing hardwood chunks in the freezer

Ha! Neither am I. Luckily I have some room in a large chest freezer :)

Storing hardwood chunks in the freezer

Has anyone tried storing hardwood chunks in an airtight container in the freezer? I know Fruita recommends storing fruit wood in the freezer so my guess is that it'd be fine but I figured I'd ask. I posted back in October 2016 asking for wood storage suggestions in Southwest Florida. I opted to...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

For those who drilled a hole to mount the Micro Damper to a WSM, where on the base did you put the hole? About level with the stock vents?

New 4.3 Thermocouple Build Reading 218.5 in Boiling Water

I tried turning on the AC line filter in the setup and that didn't help. I installed the hm-noise hex and while the K3MM probe was fine (bounced between 476 and 478), the K6A bounced between 468 and 478. I decided to remove AC from the equation entirely and switched to 12v battery power. That...

New 4.3 Thermocouple Build Reading 218.5 in Boiling Water

I have two thermocouples. An Auber TC-K6A and an Auber TC-K3MM-C. Both are K-type and both are reading around 218.5.

New 4.3 Thermocouple Build Reading 218.5 in Boiling Water

Thanks John. I checked the TC amp and I don't see any shorts. I've attached an image of the TC area of the board for reference. The surface mount resistors also check out OK. Anything else I should look in to?

New 4.3 Thermocouple Build Reading 218.5 in Boiling Water

My new 4.3 thermocouple build is reading 218.5 in boiling water with the TC. Is that within spec for a successful build or are there things I should check? I got the TC reading around 211.7 by changing mv/C to 5.17 (the calculated 5.15 still read a bit high). The thermistor probes are working as...

Storing wood chunks in SW Florida

I have some fruit and hardwood chunks and I'm trying to figure out the best way to store them. I'm just north of Sarasota, FL, so something like a deck box isn't a good idea because of mold and mildew. The deck box we have for our pool toys grows all kinds of stuff. I've currently got the wood...

    Thermoworks 1003X AP

Ralph, Both of my TX-1001X-OPs and my TX-1003X-AP read right around 208 in boiling water. I'm happy to help out any way that I can.

    Thermoworks 1003X AP

Bill, I had a couple of TX-1001X-OPs and a TX-1003X-AP delivered yesterday and found all three to be off by the same amount that you did. My house is about 35 feet above seal level. All three probes read around 208 in boiling water. I swapped the TX-1003X-AP for my Maverick smoker probe and the...
