    Blackened Salmon

Oh yeah! I'll see ya on the water. I'll be the guy runnin' a very old 17' pro-steelheader with my OTG rollin' smoke on the deck. :wsm: hahaha - jk. Don't know how the coast guard would feel about that.

    Blackened Salmon

Right On Matt! Finally- a place I can come to get a fishin' report and a recipe to get the catch to the table! For those that don't know- that is the most prized salmon meat in all of the PNW. Outstanding job on the catch and cook. Tight lines and best of luck on summer steelies. -jv

1st Cook: Chicken and Pork Loin on my first WSM!

Good call Rick! Didn't think about takin' the door off. Huh. Next time..... 3' of snow?!? Last week we got a taste of it here. Only about 2' for us. It's all gone now thank goodness. Once every 5years or so is good enough for me. We do get more than our fair share of rain though...

1st Cook: Chicken and Pork Loin on my first WSM!

Thank you all for helping me make up my mind of purchasing the 22.5 wsm. My first cook was about 2 weeks ago now- sorry for the late report but I wanted to post pics and had to get up to speed on that. I studied the site hard, learned about identifying the 2014 model- contacted Amazon to...

    Largest Charcoal Chimney Anyone?

Wow- thanks for all the responses guys. Good point of 2 smalls burning up less than 1 large. Didn't think that all the way through. I'll pull the trigger and go with another weber large. So 2 large and the rapid fire should put me pretty close. And for those wondering why I want to ignite...

    Largest Charcoal Chimney Anyone?

All- 22.5 wsm – if firing off non-minion – does anyone know of a charcoal chimney that will get me close to lighting a full bag or at least ½ bag (10lbs) worth of briquettes? I have the standard large and rapid fire small weber chimneys. I’m now looking for a super large chimney. I’ve seen...

Any DC electrical fan experts in the house?

I see what your saying now. Wow- this build would be sweet with incredible resolution. It will be awhile for this stoker build (still gathering funds for the wsm purchase) but when I do I'll post the end results here. Many thanks!

Any DC electrical fan experts in the house?

@Geir- I was wondering if the computer builders out there were playing around with these..... I looked into speed control and found what V_Rocco was talking about. (pulse width modulation) V_Rocco- SO, are you saying if I build this circuit : http://www.robotroom.com/PWM.html : The...

Any DC electrical fan experts in the house?

Good call Paul. Perhaps this is why the fan would die. Overheating as the current would generate more heat at the windings? hmm....

Any DC electrical fan experts in the house?

I have a home built temp controller. (Auber SSR ramp/soak) I have an SSR output I use for various other applications. I now want to use this for a stoker too. Figure I can - just need to know a bit more about DC fans. Now- I am well aware the "proper" way to electrically hook up this...

New Member Intro & 18 vs 22 data request

You guys are great. I really didn't expect that it would only take ~30 mins to come up to temp. I guess you'd have to figure too that lighting the 10 charcoals would also be figured in - so maybe 45 mins tops? Heck- it takes me that long to pull out all of my electric temp controller gear...

New Member Intro & 18 vs 22 data request

So- about a pound an hour.... Your post prompted me to run some numbers on 'coal costs. For some reason I had it in my head that 'coal was about $1 a lb. Glad I looked it up. I picked up kbb on a slick deal this summer for $.25/lb. Even if the 18 consumed 1/2 the fuel the 22 did- I'm not...
