    22.5, ATC, and Burn Time

I have a quick question for anyone with a 22.5" WSM and an ATC. I know that there are a lot of variables to consider, but about how long should I be able to maintain a temp of 250 for with a full ring of charcoal using an ATC?

    Guru adapter fit

Rooster, thanks again for your advice. I'm not sure why it didn't occur to me to try it before, but I was able to simply bend the top of the deflector that wasn't making contact with the bowl back a bit. It works perfectly now. I feel pretty stupid that that wasn't my first inclination when I...

    Guru adapter fit

Thanks Rooster! I did try both top and bottom vents, and the top seems like a better fit. The problem that I'm having is that, on the inside, the deflector doesn't fit tight against the bowl where it seems that it should. I'm not sure that this is a big deal, since the air will still get into...

    Guru adapter fit

Quick question about the guru adapter for the WSM: when mounting through the vent, is the adapter supposed to fit tight against both the wheel and the inside of the bowl? I tried several times, but couldn't get it to be tight on both sides. Is this a common problem, is it a problem? What...

DIGIQ DXII-Just pulled the trigger for my 22" WSM and 26.75" otg. Now what sz hole??

Tony, I'm curious to know if you were able to drill the hole for the adapter. If you did, does it leak air at all, or is it pretty snug? Any pointers?

    BBQ Guru Adapter Mod

Quick question for you, Bob. How snug does the adapter fit against the bowl, inside and out? I'm assuming that you just drilled in straight, keeping the pilot perpendicular to the bowl at the point of entry. Is that about it? I like the idea of keeping the full functionality of the smoker...

    Oops. Hope she was serious!

I have a quick question for anyone who has one of these or a DigiQ: how high of a temperature can you all maintain. I won't be using it high too often, but I'm curious about the flexibility that I'll have.

Thanks Bob! Your comments and experiences were a large factor in my decision.

    Oops. Hope she was serious!

I just ordered a Cyberq wifi after the wife half-heartedly agreed to me buying myself a present. I can't wait to get some sleep on overnight cooks!

    59 Pounds of Pork

My helper is actually my fiancé's cousin's dog, but he hung out with me for the whole process. He's an awesome dog. For his efforts, he got a taste. He actually got a lot of tastes from too many people and got sick. He's all better though and says he would do it all over again. Cute dog...

    59 Pounds of Pork

Hey everyone! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who provided tips and hints for the big cook I did this weekend. Besides taking a little longer than I would have liked, everything went well. I bought 59 ponds of pork and smoked it overnight, starting Sundays night. I ended up with...

    3rd Smoke Underway!

I used boneless butts, since that's what Costco stocks. They (I did 4) seemed to have a decent amount of fat to them, but I trimmed off quite a bit of it. Mainly the fat cap though. One of them did turn out pretty moist, though I can't really figure out why, as they were all roughly the same...

    3rd Smoke Underway!

Bob, that's a good question. I would swear it was more tender a while before I took it off, but the temp was still quite a way below 190. I tried with 3 different therms, but they all had similar readings. Should I have pulled them earlier? Gary, I like my PP with vinegar sauce, so I...

    3rd Smoke Underway!

My hunch is that by cooking with no water at 230ish, I allowed to much time for the fat to render out. I contemplated adding the liquid (fat) back in, but my health-conscious mother's voice in my head prevented me from doing so. I know that I should have, since that was likely the moisture...
