    Scottish Borders here. :)

Hi Pete and welcome. I don’t visit here much these days but I’m also in Scotland central belt - Trossachs.

    Replacement bowl woes

Actually - looking at my own photo I'm off to pass the matter to Weber Customer Services - that bowl was £130.

    Replacement bowl woes

I have a SS Performer with gas assist that has been used a lot, it's a DT code so 18 years old. 12 years ago I moved to a damp climate (West Scotland) and I thought it must have been dented during the move because I noticed the bowl starting to rust. It's been fine but recently has got much...

    Genesis Silver B igniter question

On mine there are some gas holes on the side of the burner tubes specifically for the igniter.

    Genesis Silver B igniter question

Correction - seems it was a refried beans tin! Silver B igniter thread

    Genesis Silver B igniter question

I second the comment about the hood. I fashioned one from part of a flattened out tuna can and it worked well for a few years and was easy to replace. At the very least it would diagnose your issue.

    Charcoal ring wired to grate

Just thought I'd mention it - the top tip to wire the charcoal ring to the grate is a winner tip. (Minion?) Mine has just failed after c 15 years - got to make good! Please don't ask me if it was stainless or galvanised wire - it was ages ago! Seriously the best mod ever = do it!

So... anyone old enough to remember me?

Hi Keri, of course we remember you and your recipes. I hope life is still good with you. I know it's an old thread but worth a bump. James

New BBQ day in the UK - a charcoal Go Anywhere - any tips?

Great looking spot and great cook. I grew up in Dorset and it makes me reminisce! I love my CGA(s) but you are right - have to careful because the grate to charcoal clearance is very low. The design is brilliant so you can snuff the hot coals and pack it up with the legs holding the vents shut...

Awesome Weber Customer Service - In the UK!

Ok I've seen people on here talking about how good Weber CS can be, of course that has always been in the US. Things are usually different here in the UK. Well after seven years of regular use and plenty of neglect one of the gas controls on my Gen Silver B suddenly froze. I rang Weber UK...

14.5" Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Model 711001

    2014 Go-Anywhere Gas Grill - Photo

I'm guessing this is to accommodate the gas cartridges available in the UK. I had an early UK Q that had a weird swing out basket to hold a canister upright - looks like they've overcome that clumsy setup with the GA. Curiously though the charcoal GA has been discontinued in the UK apparently...

Igniter fix Geb silver B but probably generic

Hi, I've been meaning to post this for ages but had trouble posting the pic. I had given up on the ignition on my Gen silver and used a lighter through the hole. One day I decided to give her a spring clean and removed the grates and flavouriser bars to find a corroded igniter enclosure. It was...

    Genesis Gold C Restore

Don't get over enthusiastic with the replacement - she looks pretty good to go. Get her hot and see what actually NEEDS replacing. My Silver B looks much the same when I don't use her - but a bit of use and its just a cosmetic clean that's needed. PS If the igniter is still sparking but doesn't...

Regulator frustration - top mod tip

Just for the record - I got in touch with Weber CS who did get back to me with instructions (including wait times for things to re-pressurise). They didn't work so I'll just get a new regulator. I will add that once the grill has a gas flow it always lights first time despite the Scottish...

Regulator frustration - top mod tip

I have a gen silver B and it's great apart from one fundamental fault - the regulator. I have two different gas hoses for my grill so I can use the two different types of propane cylinder here in the UK. The Weber supplied one is for clip fit (patio gas) cylinders. My other is for regular (POL)...

Help - Export parts to UK, OTG portable conversion

Related to this post OTS portable conversion I have landed myself a (very nice) 18.5" OTG from ebay and want to get the lid holder wire, fittings and notched handle so I can butcher it. Obviously I can some leg material here. I can't bring myself to cut the current legs down, that just seems...

SJ Char grate to food grate distance

I dropped in to get a look and they had the floor models on clearance! One thing I couldn't understand was why it wasn't put together properly - hardly a good way to sell it. I made sure I got all the bits
