Did this mod about 10 days ago and put it to the test last night and today with a brisket and now turkey. Works perfectly. HUGE improvement over the lousy stock handle. $27 or so, and 30 minutes of work. We'll worth the dollars and time!

Friends: I have a WSM 18.5", and in just about every cook the lid gets so sticky that it's almost impossible to open. I regularly clean the lip of the smoker center section and also the lip of the lid with a steam cleaner, and when I'm done they are as clean as new. What I suspect is happening...

I noticed last weekend for the first time that my 18.5 leaks pretty good! I also have the CB door. Did you get the gasket kit for the entire smoker, or just the door? I've been thinking about getting the gasket kit for the entire smoker...

I go to S&F in Chatsworth and Granada Hills, and never seem to find brisket. Also, is there any way to get into RD without a resale license?

I bought the CyberQ. I couldn't get it to work in ad-hoc mode (it kept disconnecting from two different Windows machines). Finally, after a LOT of work, I got it connected in infrastructure mode and was able to control it both at home and away using Windows XP, Windows 7 and my Android devices...

Mine works, too, but it's wildly inaccurate. Even accounting for different temps at the grill level vs. at the top of the dome, there's no way the variation should be 30-50*, yet that's what I have when comparing the dome to my CyberQ or Maverick.

Is it any more accurate than the one that comes with the WSM originally?

The dome on my WSM 18.5 is starting to stick when I try to remove it after it heats up. Clearly there's a lot of grease built-up on the lid and the lip of the center section of the smoker. What is the preferred method of cleaning? I'd rather not to use any harsh chemicals. I was thinking of...

The WiFi is a nice feature, and works well in and around the house via the local WiFi network. Where people are having difficulty, apparently, is setting it up so the user can access the CyberQ when outside the house, via the internet. I haven't tried to set-up that function yet, but may do so...

Interesting. I haven't tried to set-up infrastructure mode yet...but that may be next weekend's project. I have a Buffalo router running Buffalo's version of DD-WRT.Hopefully it will cooperate. Thanks for your comments.
