Just picked up my first WSM 18.5 secondhand on FB marketplace. It didn't have a water pan but after reading multiple threads here I wasn't too worried about it. Curious to get y'all's thoughts on this idea for a diffuser plate. I have a solo stove so it could do double duty.

Interesting but alot of money to just get dirty and burnt, I have been using a clay pot water tray I think it is 15 or so inches heavy clay acts like a heat sink. I also have a 1,11/2 deep pizza pan.

I have one I used in my 14.5 WSM and now that I have a Weber Summit Kamado, I love the plate so much I've been using it on top of my coal baskets in the WSK.

I have a FireDial Heat Diffuser.
It is a solid disc o' metal for sure. Some have concerns about excessive drippings, but for anything that's going to drip a lot, I just add put a foil pan on top of the diffuser. No water pan.
