Question: Will a standard Aluminum Turkey roasting pan fit under the top lid and not come in contact wit of a WSM 22. I dont want to restrict the air flow in the cooking section
They also make Oval shaped roasting pans that are usually 16x13x3. I know Walmart carries them and most grocery stores have them at this time of year. They fit in the 22 WSM as I have used them in the past.
I agree with Mr. Lewis, why use one?
Any pan of that sort will restrict airflow around the turkey.
You might consider something that restricts air less, such as a roasting rack.
This might the pan Bruce is talking about. I used this and the rectangular Calphalon roasting pan (not sure of the dimensions) before and did not have any clearance issues. I put the disposable pan on top of a quarter sheet pan to make moving the turkey easier. I don't smoke my turkey this way anymore, but it came out fine when I did.
