WSM 22 or Kamado E6

I couldn’t imagine parting with my 18.5, and I’ve only had it several months. I find The E6 and WSM pair very well together. I usually end up grilling and smoking something to accompany whatever I’m grilling.
I'm running a Weber Summit S670 gasser to go with my E6. Truth be told, I haven't lit the gasser since before Father's day when the E6 arrived. Tomorrow is 4 rib racks, and pizzas. all on the E6.

I hear you. Had it not been for the drought and local fire ban (which prevents me from burning charcoal) my Genesis 300 would not have seen much use this summer. Instead she was cleaned up, and has been put to use 1-2 times a week for the last 3 weeks.

I've never cooked that much of either item, so from a 'will it fit' perspective, I can't say.

However, since getting the WSC I haven't used the WSM or kettle... at all.

Like the previous poster, since I got my WSC, the (2) 18" WSM's I have sit unused.
I did steal the charcoal ring from one of them for the WSC, fits perfect
I do still use my Gen. 1 Performer for high heat grilling
The WSC gets used as a smoker.

I only use the kamado for smoking.
I am sure it grills well, but will use more fuel.
The amount the 18" uses compared to the 22 is noticeable so it has to be that much more again at least.
I use the 22 most of the time, it has a table and is a nice height, also I figured out how to use it very well.
The 18" is a JJ so sits on the ground and I try to use it for travelling or if it is raining I can go to the front of the garage.

I use my top charcoal grate as a platform for grilling and it seems pretty miserly in charcoal use for that. I typically start lump in the chimney, dump it to one side of the top charcoal grate (or use my hame made SnS setup) and maybe add more charcoal if I need to cook more than a few steaks, 4-5 burgers etc. Works very well.

Just Checked with my Order through BBQ guys. Finally says my order is Processing and may be here as soon as next week.

I'm going to have to shop for Charcoal this weekend.:D

Kamado does not use more fuel. Yes it physically holds more charcoal than an 18”, but burns less. Magical little thing called insulation.

While I’ve not done a direct comparison, I’d bet my Summit uses less charcoal than my Smokey Joe does at almost three times the grill size, and produces noticeably better results.

Actually with the charcoal ring from a 18" WSM it holds about the same amount
The better fuel efficiency is due to the insulation, and the amount of draft/air it needs to stay at a particular temp..
I use both vents on the WSC, and close them off quite a bit
The WSM temp was controlled with the bottom vents, I never touched the top vent-it was always wide open

You may be right, I haven't done any tests at all regarding fuel usage.
I'm still only going to use the 24" for smoking, unless I need it for other cooks which probably will happen at some point.
Everything works they way I want it, no confusion makes for smoother cooks.

That was my first learning curve when I got the Summit, vents. That top vent is darn near not open at all haha. I had set it to where I would run a kettle and it was just way too hot

My Summit produces the best sear I’ve ever had. I’ll set steaks on with lid closed, then open the lid. Probably under a minute it’s got flames kicked up tickling the meat....damn is it good!

Sears better and quicker than my other kettles and no surprise better than gassers. Might try it once👍

My E6 sits in the sun between 6am and up to about 4 or 5pm during my cooks.
It cooks hot, I like the morning time, I held a 225 for more than 2 hours without trying....made adjustments and held a 240 for a couple more hours easy peasy. Then mid afternoon with the sun blazing on it it was sure to go up no matter but I just ran an easy 265....I was looking for 250 to 280 for the balance of the cook anyways, I only had about 11 hours to complete a 9 pound pork shoulder.
the usual household members gave it a best pulled pork to date, and my guests ate a lot, 2 big plates each. :p
I like it for smoke, I am sure you guys grill great on it too.

+1. Fully concur. I did a 3 hour rib cook last weekend and it barely used coals when I used the deflector plate and running 250-275° steadily. I’m thinking like less than 10% of my coals were consumed. I relit the used coals last night and did an indirect chicken quarters cook and then seared them for crisping over the direct heat (used the coal baskets for the first time) and was very happy with my results for heat and sear.
