There wasn't one in mine. Just checked. I wonder if these are the little differences with the Costco model. I also don't have the tool hooks on the side, but maybe that was an older feature. There are two hooks on the Weber logo plate, though.Very nice.
I am waiting for that rib eye though
Make sure to remove the plastic dog dish from inside the ash catch pan. It isn't obvious that its inside. Oh, and Weber calls it a coal scoop.
yeah my mistake, I just now looked at their site. I think the older ones might have had the three in a separate spot.My E6 did not have tool hooks on the side, only the two on the logo plate.
Thank you, and I did see these! I've been scouring the web (and this site a LOT) for a couple of weeks before pulling the trigger. I really appreciate all the knowledge you and others share.so a couple of suggestions. maybe you've seen these already
Your ash catcher handle is on the left side of the front leg. I find having it on the right side is easier for me to get tosince I'm right handed. That's an easy fix, just pickup the lower kettle portion and spin it counter clockwise, just watch the insulators as they can fall out.
The second suggestion is to mark on the ash catcher the transition from the P section of the vent to the full open section.
There's a pic in this thread showing what I'm trying to say.
here's a thread with some suggestions.
in post #10 I included this pic where I marked with a sharpie the settings of the lower vent compared to the opening inside the WSK.
The leftmost mark is fully closed. The second mark about an inch to the right is when the "P" portion of the vent inside is fully opened. To the left of that mark means it is closing off the "P". to the right of that mark the vent is starting open the larger part of the vent. My point in this picture is a small movement past the mark opening the P opens a lot more inlet air than just the P portion. I hope this makes...
Lastly, when doing low-and-slow, cover the deflector with heavy duty aluminum foil. it makes cleanup a breeze.
Ahhh...the sight of a brand new, never cooked in Weber is always so nice. Enjoy it while it lasts and then burn that baby in! Congrats!Forgive the deck that's being pressure washed tomorrow
