Is it safe to use old wood floors for smoking? I have a 40 year old red oak floor that I'm replacing. I was wondering if I might use it for smoking? What about grilling (Santa Maria style?)
Here's a link to a discussion on furniture scraps which discusses the kiln drying and possible chemical use during that process. Not sure if it is the same for wood flooring, but it might be. In the discussion they mentioned oak is probably ok (as long as it is bare wood, that is).
