Which used Performer Platinum would you buy?

Long long lurker here and have learned a ton. Owned a WSM while back and now have a Q200, a mini-WSM and a MES. Been sort of wanting a Performer Platinum cause I think the touch n go is really convinient. Found two in the local area and wanted to hear your take on them. Probably use it at least once a month if not more.

http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/for/4923313123.html - an older version, includes a cover and looks to be in decent condition. $100 and very short drive.

http://ventura.craigslist.org/for/4917760266.html - the latest model, almost new, includes cast iron grate, and cover. $225 (guessing $200 would suffice) and 2 hour drive.

I agree Newer Model, newer grates. + the color is nice..

650.00 that seems outrageously overiestimating. Unless that CastIron grate was over 150.00
I bought a Crate & Barrell Performer Deluxe , CBis known to have premium items and price things as such. I paid less than 400.00

I vote the Crimson newer model. But I would see if they would be willing to sell for 200.00 if not 225.00 is still fair for that set-up.

Either way both are good deals..

Hmm (me thinks a drive to Ventura isnt that far..... ;) )

I wouldnt let the distance of the drive be a factor, driving to any coastal CA city has lots of benefits if you have the vehicle to transport it, Make a fun road trip out of it.

I think so too. I mean, the cast iron grate alone that they have is about $60. But yeah, I think it could be had at $200. You're closer than I am! I have a sister that lives in Ventura and this is bit further but dang, 4 hour round trip... Wouldn't complain if it fit on my motorcycle but can't imagine I'd make that drive from OC.

Would you be having to rent a uhaul or HD Load N Go?
Try going uhaul or Penske..
Still worth the drive the weather should be nice from OC to VenCo 80's this weekend.
Good weekend to drive the coast, stop off in at Moonshadows in Malibu for a nice lunch.
Well worth the drive imho not sure your ability to trasport it

A UHaul from HB to Ventura would be about 19.00 + 60.00-70.00 in miliage

lets say it costs you $80.00 to simply transport it, say you get it for 200.00 & it is still well worth the price..

Another idea is to ask seller if they are a member of this TVWBB maybe they will help a fellow TVWBB member out..If not share with them the resource Karma points they might be willing to meet you halfway. You pay asking. That would be right around RB.. a couple cold ones at Najas place. Nice weekend either way.

The black one may come with that bottle of starter fluid, so there's that.:)
What's up with that when you have a gas starter?

I know about the drive, I was in Ventura last weekend!

I have a Prius V that I was hoping to take some tools and do a half disassemble and fit it in the back. I would have to do this regardless of one closer or far away. Yup, great weather no doubt this weekend but I have a feeling wifey says no to this crazy idea about driving 4 hours to pick up a bbq grill of which I already have so I'll probably check out the local one and see if it is in good working condition.

Well looks like the one in Ventura County is now off the market, so between the two your options have been halved. Better hurry if you want to catch the one left (or wait for the next one - there WILL be others).

Yup, not in any kind of rush. Can definitely wait for the "one".

That Orange County Performer looks like my 08 Performer and it is one of the best grills I have ever used. Price is good and it is close. Just my opinion. Good Luck.

Wonder if the lighter fluid is there because the gas assist isn't working. I would find out before I would buy it.

IMHO the gas assist is not much better than a paraffin wax and the chimney starter.. so if its not functioning and that is why priced as such I would still see that as a good deal so long as the charcoal grate / cooking grate are there and in good condition.

Wondering whats the status did OP get the other one closer to him in time?

$100 for the first one is a no brainer in my book. It even has the charcoal baskets with it. Since it's been up for 6 days, contact seller and offer $75 cash and tell them you can be there in 30 mins.
