Which gas Weber to get

The skyline made its way home this evening. The seller mentioned needing a new propane regulator to fit the new style tanks. I didn’t get a chance to look as it was dark by time I got home. I’ll check tomorrow to be sure but what say the experts?
Sounds good, let's see some more pictures of it when you get a chance. I would just replace the whole regulator myself.Screenshot_20250417-201645.pnghttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CF57ZS38?tag=tvwb-20

This conversation got me thinking. I'm going to clean up and start using my original regulator hoses. I never really thought about it before. I just figured I was replacing them with a new Weber regulator but a new Weber regulator is not an old thick solid made in America regulator. It's a cheap thin Chinese made regulator. Maybe it makes no difference but I love these old Weber grills because they were built right and built to last with American parts. I like to preserve as much of these old grills as possible and I should be reconditioning these regulator hoses. I compared an old original Weber hose to a brand new one last night.

Bruce, I saw the el cheapo but, I've tried them before and they've had issues. I've had great results from the Mr Heater brand so it's why I posted that.
And yes Josh, re OEM regulators. I'll trust the OEM regulator on a Weber far and away more than any replacement. Especially on the older "classic" Webers

If you're going to replace them then it probably doesn't matter what brand you use, they are all probably made in the same Chinese factory anyway so why pay more for them. On the other hand, the old Weber ones were indeed made better and made here so replacing them just to replace them is a waste of money and effort. I wire wheel the metal parts of them to shine them up and wipe down the hoses and they come out looking like new again, five minutes of work tops.

Is there a known stamp, Weber or manufacturer's marking on them that can be relatively easily identified? I have a big box of them so I would be curious to know.

Smart Steve! I don't know why it never crossed my mind before. I just spaced it because in my mind I was replacing an old Weber regulator hose with a new Weber regulator hose.

I have a few old ones that have the markings like the one in the pictures I posted above. Stamp on the regulator is a Texas company Marshall gas and the hose itself is marked made in the USA. I'll have to look I probably have more than a few.

It looks like you can still buy some old Marshall gas American made propane regulator hoses on eBay

I did buy a couple Dozyant propane regulator hoses that I plan to use on flips. Only because at least a couple of you that I trust vouch for them. I might be stupid or crazy or just way overthinking it but I couldn't trust just any cheap Chinese knockoff regulator on my keeper grills. I'm sure any of them would work but I would like to buy one that I can trust to perform optimally with my grill. I suspect they don't all work the same or perform the same. I don't have a concrete answer for this. Just voicing my concerns.

So I've been doing some research. Interesting to me but probably boring for most everybody else.
Marshall gas controls inc. was the company that Weber used for their american-made regulator hoses. I found some old used ones for sale but also figured out that Thermos brand also packaged these up and sold them for LP grill use. I'm still finding a few brand new still in the package for sale.

Here's more stuff that's interesting for me and probably boring for most everybody else.
"Marshall Gas Controls became Marshall Excelsior Company (MEC) in 1976. MEC specializes in developing flow-control solutions for compressed and liquefied gas and fluid markets"

"Marshall Excelsior Company (MEC), previously a provider of flow control components, was acquired by Dover Corporation in July 2024. The acquisition was completed for $395 million in cash. MEC now operates as part of Dover's OPW Global business unit within the Clean Energy & Fueling segment."

I just checked my grills and I have 9 of these original Marshall regulator hoses. Including my 1985 Genesis 2
