Where do you light your chimney?

I was kind of figuring that a good share of people were using their kettles and this is confirming that thought. Ive been looking at performers but I might have to wait til I move to pull the trigger.

Lighting it elsewhere would sure make setup easier in the WSM.

Pavers for me as well. I also have a gasser that has a side burner but the amount of newspaper I get make it to easy to use a bit of Pam and light it up. Would use it for a mid-smoke refill. Does it light faster on the gasser than some newsprint?

I have a spare grate from an old grill. I lay that on the brick patio and set the chimney on that.

I shudder when I read about folks putting their starter on anything made with concrete. I can't comment on brick but I can assure you concrete will explode when you start charcoal over it.

A few years back I did that and when I picked up the chimney, the sidewalk loudly exploded and sent concrete shrapnel flying. My son was sliced right below his eye and I got hit in the shin.
