What's the best photo & video hosting website?

I know about flikr, instagram, and now google photo, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to host pictures.

I've been using facebook but that's clunky - doesn't work right with one of my browsers but does with another.

I'm hesitant to have everything available online, I only want to share certain things, I don't want everything to be on "the cloud" and available to everyone.

I post most of my pictures here & on facebook, that's pretty much it.

Any suggestions?

I'm looking forward to hearing about different sites, I'm less than thrilled with photobucket these days

As for Google Photo's, I can't think of anyone who I would trust less with my photos than Google. Yet people let them use all of their personal
information without even thinking about it. Yes they say it is "free", but how free is it really when they are done with your data?

I went to wordpress (weblog site) - their free version has <3GB storage, 10mb per item limit. I didn't look into their paid versions yet.

I have posted a few pics/videos to google, and I pretty much agree with you. I was reading (listening to an audiobook) "How To Create a Mind" by Ray Kurzweil, & found out he's big @ Google.

While I find the intrusions disturbing (while putting way too much out there myself), what's most disturbing to me is this. We're supposed to avoid political discussions so I probably shouldn't have posted that link.

>>>I have a couple of NASs and a server, I figured why not build my own cloud - I'm just not confident enough in my ability to secure everything so I don't allow outside access yet.

I started reading Architecting The Cloud, but I haven't cracked that for several+ months.
