What's a fair price?

A coworker wants me to smoke enough prime rib for 10 people for the 4th of July. How big of a roast do you think I would need and what would be a fair price to charge?

You will need about a 1lb to 1.25lb per person. As far charging him, that is up to you. When i do these types of things, I do not charge people. I like to get favors back. So far, I have not had a problem collecting on my favors.

Dan C., Ryan has just given you the best answer of all. No Charge, try it his way and see how it works out.

Another option would be to have the party honcho buy the roast (whatever size you decide on) and then you do the cook. Your labor, charcoal, seasoning ETC. is certainly of significant value and would probably suffice nicely for your contribution to the party.

I'd go with cost of the meat and a favor or a six pack of your choice. Cooking is too fun too ask for much more in my view.
